His Mike trying to tell us something here?

How would he know they don't make you a better fighter unless he tried them? I believe he started taking them after his loss to Douglas.

You have all these athletes spending a ton of money and risking their reputation on PEDs. Despite this, every now and then, you'll see an athlete claim that PEDs don't make you better. Sorry, not buying it.

You know why they are doing that ? It's because it's made so easily available !

People want to stay young for as long as they can

They have opportunities to make a ton of money ..

Shortcuts are the name of the game but in boxing it won't make you better as. Mike had stated ..

Fighters who view PED's as a shortcut will get worse, because the definition of a shortcut means you put less into it. That's why conditioning and skill erode even if the guy winds up with a beach body.

The fighters who use PED's and reap the benefits aren't the ones who use them as an excuse to work less. They're the ones who use them as an excuse to work more.

    That's the difference.

They made him better boxer of course. Everybody who knows about steroids know it. They made him stronger not only physically but mentally as well. But most of his opponents were using steroids as well so it doesnt tarnish his achievements at all. Steroids were and still are a big part of a game, you like it or not.

I think he just meant it doesn't make you a smarter or more skilled fighter. It's undeniable they make you incredibly strong and can help an already skilled fighter.

Tyson was on roids from the early days...but as said already its not that much of a cheat when all or most nearly all others are on them as well.

Steroids are known to make you bigger, stronger, faster and also recover much quicker than you naturally would otherwise...so they are an edge to help each individual reach their unnatural potential and most fighters these days at top level are on 'em IMO because they believe if they aren't getting that extra edge they will be at a disadvantage to everyone else whom they are told are also on em....its like get on them roids or you'll be on an unlevel playing field.

Quote Lyle Alzedo of football fame or perhaps infamy. "Pro athletes use steroids because they work." Duh.

Ive read these posts through and cannot believe what some of you say. Why do fighters take steroids if they are no use to them??? The classic example for me is Shane Mosely. He fought & beat Oscar while using steroids Was he punished?? No theyre calling him a shoo in for the HOF
Look at his performance against Sergio Mora ? Mosely looked about as energetic as a wet dish cloth. Then compare his performance against a sick weight drained emotionally drained Tony Margarito? Mosely had boundless energy was a totally different fighter. He was punching non stop . Yet against Floyd when he had to be clean he gassed after 3 rounds. To me that's the difference PED's make

look at what they do for bodybuilders.....and muscle wise to a lesser extent to a boxer...they change their physiques for the better making them more athletic/bigger/stronger....and those things make athletic performance therefore significantly greater than natrually otherwise.

Yes they don't help skills but will help speed and endurance, which help maintain skill level for longer
