He aint a disgrace at all,he is a guy who loves boxing on every level and will talk to anyone who will listen to him about British fights that mean nothing on the world scene,he gets Brit fighters names in when interviewing US promoters etc.He loves the sport and he loves the fighters I think the amount of guys he got either on the phone or in the studio when he had boxing hour on setanta, shows that the fighters in general like and respect the bloke. That is good enough for me.Yes he sometimes goes off on one but he is just being himself.I think people can relate to that.
Does anyone remember Bunce saying some **** about Jade Goody just after she died on the boxing hour? It was ****in' hilarious.
No!What was it?I missed that show I guess,I used sky plus it(work nights)but my daughters are great at deleting anything that stops them filling the planner thing with lost, houswives etc.Even got multi room to try and stop this but no!2 planners full of rubbish now!
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/others/boxing-how-a-freak-fought-back-1814737.html Yep - it's the sort of stuff boxing writers should aspire to. Bunce has a big heart and a keen eye for emotional detail.
I think Steve sometimes says stuff he doesn't really mean. but in terms of entertainment and knowledge the guy is world class.
Bring back the shirt. Bunce is a British journo who supports our British fighters. Nothing wrong with that.
He's not an establishmant man & thats what i like about him, he'll come out with some outrageous statements sometimes & his confrontational interview technique is for cause & effect but thats him making his mark, love it loathe it he gets your attention & thats what it's all about & i much prefer him too Harry Carpenter & Reg Gutteridge who were the BBC/ITV established company men who IMO although superb radio/media jorno's had a tendancy to always play it safe & frequently showed appaling bias much to the detriment of some fighters & fawned & gushed over other favorites. Buncie to me does neither in extreame, he just gets close so the target can open up which is what we all want & is what we really all want rather than the old school style of safty first back & forth scripted veballs. I like the way Buncie just plows in, as i said you either like it or hate it but thats his style & the only fault i coud find in his delivery is when on his "Boxing Hour" he flicks his eyes down to the left where he has his stash of KO/Ring/Boxing IIlustrated mags from the 80's from where he nicks his quaot's from Lou Duva & Don King ect & claims them as his own:hey Ain't that right Buncie
I would like to ask Buncie whether he really feels Dominic Negus could have gone all the way. This is basically what he was saying in one of those Danny Dyer 'Hard man' programmes.
Love Buncey so passionate about the sport he loves and very knowledgeable. His thursday night radio show is excellent and the christie v Kaylor item this week priceless....as has been said if you don`t like him don`t read him or listen to him simple. I can`t get enough of his enthusiasm, mor power to stevo just wish the radio show ws longer than an hour.
