I heard this on Fighting Talk and wondered if the school would take this lying down...If the school makes a formal complaint then he could be in trouble with the BBC:

A BBC broadcaster has claimed on-air that a pupil swore at him and spat at his wife as they watched their son play in a sixth-form rugby match.

Steve Bunce, a pundit on Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk, accused the teenage boy of calling him “the second worst word you can use on the BBC” during a touchline exchange.

The school strongly denies the presenter’s accusations. Rod Goldswain, acting headmaster at Northampton School for Boys, said the 17-year-old had admitted to teachers that he called Mr Bunce a “stupid t**t”, but denied claims that he called him a “c***” or a “p****”.

The teenager also said that he spat at the ground but did not spit at Mr Bunce’s wife, and that Mr Bunce had “provoked” a confrontation.

The incident happened as Mr and Mrs Bunce watched their son play in his school team for Denstone College — an independent school in Staffordshire — against Northampton School for Boys before Christmas.

Mr Bunce made the claims during his Fighting Talk show at the weekend. During a discussion, he said: “People I speak to in rugby cannot believe it. In six Olympics and thousands of sports events in 25 years, I have never seen behaviour like it from a player.

“I’m there on the side and suddenly this kid that plays for Northampton, a 17-year-old kid, called me the second worst word you can use on the BBC and spat at my wife.

“I have reported him and I have discussed it. Northampton School for Boys, absolutely disgraceful behaviour.”

However, Mr Goldswain said: “The pupil said he only swore at Mr Bunce after provocation and this is supported by other parents who were present.” He told the Northampton Chronicle: “Unfortunately, (Mr Bunce) has used his privileged position as a BBC radio presenter to create what he sees as entertainment by criticising and naming a school and attempting to disparage both this school and our town.

“This is grossly unfair, based, as it was, on one isolated incident. Those who know the school will not recognise the presenter’s comments applying to Northampton School for Boys.”

Today, Mr Bunce referred requests for comment to the BBC press office, which said: “This is a matter between Steve and the school.”

Earlier, Mr Bunce told The Daily Telegraph: “In hindsight, it was probably not right to mention it on the show. I don’t want the kid to get in trouble, I want him to be reprimanded. Perhaps I should have written to the school and not mentioned it on Fighting Talk.

“But perhaps some little kid shouldn’t have gobbed or sworn at two people on the sidelines on a fantastic winter’s afternoon in Northampton.”

I just listened to that Fighting Talk and wondered how it would go down with the school.

Don't get me wrong I genuinely do like Buncey, but I bet he ran his mouth all game and the kid got sick of it, two wrongs don't make a right though!
