Anyone read his new book "Around the world in 80 fights"? I know a few don't like the man, but this book has some cracking stories in it. The guys certainly been around. His chapters on Joe Frazier, Michael Watson and Kirkland Laing are particularly sad. I'd definitely recommend getting a copy.
he's a regurgitating blowhard, who has an in with the British Boxing personnel and once your pushing all their approved and same small circle, rule Britannia shite, your in. the thing that confuses me most, though I understand the inferiority complex, the confusing matter is, damn near all nations highlight, receive & pen all their great athletes & noted people, but Britain in Sport is so desperate & envious of other nations Top Accomplishments, that they just repeat over & over & over again England 66 kind of successes, forgetting & insulting the rest of the nation and her competitors as if they didn't have any... yet damn near all other nations, particularly the Americans are always happy tell of yet another great athlete or achievement or near achievement for what they actually were and that is great performers & participants. he's a Nationalistic arse licker, who was/is painful to listen too. Buncey, England and the British Press should stop being little regurgitating lap dogs and scour the annals of multiple British Greatness.
I know, but he was a commentator for years & had a little Boxing Show for a while, he was painful... but I don't doubt some of the Boxer's telling is interesting... I, like most of us here, know of dozens of them. by comparison, Russ Amber in Canada and even Chuvalo, again coincidentally Canada again, had very interesting Boxing shows much more objective and all encompassing, anyway he, Bunce, serves a purpose, a National One!
He's still worth the read, he's seen too much not to be an interesting source of history, but I don't know about a whole book tbh.
I think he is reasonably knowledgeable but his voice grates on me,so does Barry's that little Welshman.
