joes rudimentary defensive skills would be a problem, and relatively poor offense along with a lack of ref to stop the fight after a few slaps wouldn't help.
How are things in idiotsville these days Ferol? I think you will find most people who slag the sh it out of Calzaghe do so because of his resume ( or their opinions of who he shoulda fought ) The vast majority of them do NOT complain about his ability and / or his skills.
he was easy to hit, so his defence wasnt that. he missed a lot, so his offense wasnt all that. Literally all that missing doesnt constitute a good offense, but perhaps you tihnk it does. this is your perogative. he got floored a fair bit by noones and nothings, so his chin wasnt bad, but wasnt all that. NOW I've never claimed his skills were terrible - just relatively poor at the top level. He always lagged behind someone with an elite quality, on the rare occasion he faced them. So think again.
So THAT explains the 46 - 0 then Ferol. Righty Oh.:nut As I said if you want to get your underwear twisted over Calzaghe, try joining the rest and cry like a baby about who you think he should of faced. It is much simpler than making yourself look an idiot by moronically claiming the guy had poor skills.
Good matchup Collins fought the tougher competition. Calzaghe had a few excellent names who were past their primes. I think Calzaghe was a slightly better overall fighter. Collins was better than he looked at first glance. He could lead or counter, but so could Joe. I think Joe had the better defense and speed. I think Calzaghe would win a pretty close UD
it does, exactly, because as I said he stepped up so rarely. It exactly explains the 46-0 thanks for pointing out the facts.
Calzage was a talented man and was one of the best at adapting to a style, his speed and natural ability movement etc. He outpoints Collins comfortably IMO
Joe Calzaghe wouldn't win a round against Collins in his prime but the Collins that was supposed to fight Calzaghe was washed up even worse than Eubank
I will never understand irrational disregard of Calzaghe's skills and accomplishments. He is a decided level above Collins and both being at their best would win a lopsided decision.
Just so that even the likes of you can get I'll explain those facts again Ferol. It means Calzaghe had far superior skills to the 45 men he fought and beat, and nothing about any version of Steve Collins makes any sensible boxing fan think those same skills would be found lacking had they ever fought. It also means you know less than nothing about boxing skills Ferol. You are actually in danger of making Auntie Bug look clever, and believe me that takes some doing with an idiot who believes anyone named Klitchko was both faster, and had better footwork than Ali.
41 were nobodies. so its hardly a strong claim. of the top four he fought who were genuinely world class, joe was throwing less accurately than robin reid, less accurately and behind on scores with Kessler till miks hand gave way half way, and less accurately than Hopkins until that 40something gassed out. I would also add that when he and Byron and floored each other once apiece in their first round, the fight was dubiously stopped to save joe when Mitchell slipped without falling. Being balanced of opinion, I acknowledge joes excellent perromance against the minor champ lacy. BIka was not a bad win either.
Joe would have got himself a decision. Collins would have found him self getting frustrated as heck during the fight. No kds either.
