Collins always wanted Jones, beat Benn and Eubank twice, people may say they were out of their prime, very underated regardless.

    What happens?

:deal i like collins enough but he's too slow and at times, a bit sloppy. jones had the kind of ridculous speed and sharpness to take advantage consistently

I agree watched Collins vs Benn on youtube with all the comments saying Jones avoided Collins. Reckless comes to mind, one thing you don't want to be with a 168 Jones Jnr in the ring.

collins was made an offer and turned it down. not saying it was the best offer ever but the stories of jones "ducking" people are wildly embellished. i've yet to see any evidence he avoided anyone, except maybe DM

Not good ?, euro bum ?, ok fair enough, but he gave me some great memorys from the 90s, some brilliant british, euro fights something not to many seem to be able to do any more. He did the best he could, was tough and went full out of which i and many others loved

What i find really funny in the knocking of steve collins, is we have tons of his fights in full, in color with replays etc etc, and yes he was not the best, but come on a bum ?

And yet dare i say this (yes you bet i dare), the same people knocking him and calling a good pro with some decents wins and record a bum, ARE QUITE HAPPY to give full praise and call them great fighters to guys who we have no footage off, and have just a few old second hand reports of, thats what does my head in about classic fighters to be fair, really to me its all rather strange

One wonders had he himself been fighting then. with poor footage and the same 2nd hand reports about his toughness etc, how highly praised he would be on here, and also on the flip side, if we had the full fights of some so called legends, would they get ripped apart on here as all there failures would be there to see.

Any way i dont post on here much, i love boxing, like all the old guys and respect them, and dont have near the knowledge of most on here, but being half paddy myself, and having loved his fights and the build up etc (remember the fun about him being brainwashed and eubanks being seemingly worried about it haha, classic stuff), just thought id stick up for him

Roy would of seriously outclassed him.

Steve's toughness would of been the undoing of him!

Steve Collins a 'euro bum', are you kidding me?

Collins was a warrior, as tough as they come. Roy would have outclassed him, in his prime he was probably the closest thing to superman in a boxing ring but much lesser fighters than Collins went the distance with him.

Collins will always be underrated. Butt-hurt Brits don't like what he did to Eubank & Benn, and Jones fanboys always try to dismiss him as a top fighter when defending Jones' cherry picking.

It was Jones who turned down an offer of a unification fight with Collins. Jones lied about imaginary counter-offers to Collins, and still bullshitted that the fight could be made after Collins retired.

Whether or not Collins goes the full distance is up to Jones.

In his super middle days he was more inclined to end matters early.

On the other hand it could be the usual wide UD with a couple knockdowns.

By the way, considering his advancing age and declined abilities Kalambay performed surprisingly good against Collins.
