JOnes would beat him widely, but Collins WAS a very good fighter.Albeit one with an often messy ugly style.He had a surprisingly versatile, loose approach compared to a lot of other sluggers from that era.More Fullmer-esque. He was on the decline by the time this fight would have happened btw.Collins was at his peak at middle circa the Johnson and Kalambay bouts and into the Eubank fights, but looked to have completely abandoned his skills afterward.Which was fine against a washed up Benn, but less efficient.He didn't look the same level of fighter to me by the time he retired.
Collins was a fine fighter, without question. Who performed better against him: Kalambay, R.Johnson or McCallum?
