I understand what you're saying about Eubank and Benn but Benn hit Collins with some awesome shots that would have had lesser men out for the count, so in that regard he was still a very dangerous opponent and not quite the shell some would have you believe. I feel it's a bit of a cop out for fans of Eubank and Benn to put Collins' wins over both down to them being shot fighters. Who knows what way the fights would have went with with all 3 in their primes, wins for Benn and Eubank would not have been foregone conclusions that's all I'm saying.

I've nothing against English people at all :D It's just that fans of Eubank and Benn who totally write off Collins' wins as "lucky" happen to be English, for the most part. I'll give a fighter his due no matter where he comes from, in fact Nigel Benn was one of my favourite boxers:good

    no probs.

ya i agree they underestimate what collins achieved in beating both those guys twice,IMO all 3 were a little past there best due to long careers and many wars, though none were much older than 30,credit must go to old stevo no doubt...

Agreed on both counts. I didn't mean to make out Collins's two wins over Eubank were worthless btw. I still think that Eubank was of sufficient quality to beat the 'lesser men' you speak of. I also don't think Calzaghe-Collins would be the one sided beat down many have suggested it would be - Joe would've struggled to keep Collins of him. Still think Nigel was shot to bits tho.

Fair enough, you got me there i suppose, but you gotta admit it did look that way tho, and in MY opinion he did and i'll always think that.
But yeah i agree, i would have loved to have seen them fight, tho to be honest i'm not sure who i'd pick, cos collins beat every ****in fighter i picked to beat him! every time :D

Point 1. Collins was a warrior who defeated Eubank fair and square twice whilst Eubank was one of the best at the weight, no excuses about Eubank being tired!Wtf?? dont get in the ring if your tired....

Point 2. He went the distance with McCullum, giving the body snatcher one of his toughest fights.

Point 3. He Beat a past it Benn twice, but was still comfortable in victory.

Point 4. Nobody is saying that Collins was technically magnificent, he wasnt, but he does have better skills than he gets credit for and was involved in more exciting fights than I can remember...

Point 5. He did not duck Clazaghe. He retired due to MEDICAL ADVICE (now for the dumbasses who have never stepped into a ring, try get that into your head). From his point of view, what is the point in risking your life for a fight against an up and coming Calzaghe who was a nobody at the time..

Point6. He called out Roy Jones on many occassions but didnt want to get screwed financially with a 'six figure sum' which could of been 100,000, which is nothing. If you care to go on youtube, you can see a video after the eubank fight of him calling RJJ out. Who was ducking who?? Collins was too risky for Jones as he had a granite chin and kept coming IMO. I do believe Jones would of won on a UD but there would of been some hairy moments along the way.
Also for the doubters, does Collins come across as the sort of guy to duck anybody??The answer is no.

Point 7. He was in Lock stock and two smoking barrells, playing a doorman.....Just abit of movie trivia for you there

Eubank was NEVER the same after the second war with Watson.
You can talk on and on about his age and this and that but everybody forgets Eubank had Steve knocked out in round 10 and just stood there instead of finishing him off. Younger pre Watson Eubank would have finished him off right then and there.

Great fighter who has been overlooked in the talk of top SMWs from the 90's. Begged to fight Roy Jones jr but the latter wouldn't bite.

Guys primes ended soo young during that era.. I always assumed Eubank and Benn were old when he fought them but turns out they were 28 and 32. Here we have supposed “elite” guys today that’s 32+ and don’t have a signature win.
