I think he is. Styles wise, he may lose to a few top heavyweights, including Haye and the Klitschko's but I think he's a really good fighter who should move up in weight. I think he has a better chance than most at dethroning Vitali and would actually put up a decent fight. It's either him or Arreola, in my opinion.
The matter of moving up in weight is one that is unlikely at the minute, he doesn't struggle with his weight and is a capable enough fighter in a very happening division, and considering Mormeck , Haye , Bell, Adameck etc are moving upwards into the heavier bracket it leaves more lucrative crumbs for him to aim at. Cruiserweight is his idillic division , he gets by on speed and work rate two aspects that he may lose if he moves towards being a 220 fighter... If it aint broke Steve shouldn't fix it.. actually what you have said in theory is probably right.. he could even now as a 195 man beat most half decent heavys comfortably.... God bless..
Being a good American boxer with no pop gets you Eddie Chambers. Do you really need another one at Heavyweight? If Adamek did that to him imagine what most other top 10 heavyweights would do to him.
Cunningham is a small cruiser and lacks power at his current weight. He shouldn't go anywhere near heavyweight.
he's 6'3 and he's got 82" reach so the only problem is lack of power... besides what's left for him in cw?
In terms of weight. He regularly weighs in five lbs or more inside the limit. He'd still be a CW if the cruiser limit was still 190lbs.
I think Cunningham would fare very well at heavyweight. I always thought prior to Adamek that he had the beating of Haye or at least it would have been a very good competitive fight if they had fought.
