What i hate nowadays is when Refs give the boxer knocked down far too long recovery time. Not only do Refs apply a count that is too slow to begin with, they then ask the boxer if they're okay, dust off the boxers gloves, ask if he wants to continue....

Whilst all this is happening, the boxer who scored the knockdown has to wait at the other side of the ring and it could be 15 to 20 seconds before gets another chance to hit his opponent.

Give me the days of Jack Dempsey when you were allowed to hit your opponent again as soon as he stood up...although he suffered from a long count or two himself when they changed the rules just after the Willard fight.

Cherry has some real power at 135lbs, would be a dangerous fight for any one outside the Top 5.

 

Can't help but to think Magdaleno would've been handled the same way. Maybe he would have lasted a bit longer but he would get smoked.
