Steve Cunningham vs. Natu Visinia RBR

Round 3

Visinia is marching in, beckoning Cunningham to fight. BIG RIGHT BY CUNNINGHAM! Another! Visinia was caught blind and Cunningham just keeps pouring it on before he can recover Cunningham backs off and starts extending jabs on the gut. Jab downstairs, right on the nose by Cunningham. Visinia is clapping his gloves together, dropping them by his thighs and walking Cunningham down, not quite fleet enough to cut the ring off but making the right moves to do so. Cunningham is barely keeping ahead of him, busily popping jabs, zigzagging the ring. Visinia is walking to him, calm and confident, not wasting any punches until he gets close. WILD left hook and right uppercut by Visinia on the inside, clowned as Cunningham drops very low and scampers around him. Nice jabs by Cunningham. Visinia waves out a few light jabs at Cunningham's face. Low blow at the bell.

Round 4

Cunningham is jabbing and dancing around Visinia. The big man is tucking his chin and letting Cunningham's jab flutter around his face and deflect off his temples. Visinia is chasing after Cunningham and swinging big wide looping rights. Cunningham jumps back onto the ropes and lands a few counter uppercuts as Visinia bears down on him and slams in a few body shots. Visinia is bowling in rights on the ribcage of Cunningham. Southpaw switch by Cunningham, flicking right jabs as he trots away. Clinch, Visinia wrestling Cunningham onto the ropes.

10-9 Cunningham, but Visinia had moments.

Round 5

Visinia is walking Cunningham down and pawing his jab as Cunningham throws a sharper one. Cunningham flurries backing up and covers up when out of room as Visinia starts to unload. Cunningham is dropped by a clubbing right, partially caught on the shoulder. Visinia is now mowing Cunningham onto the ropes and working the body. BIG counter right by Cunningham. Visinia falls in and holds, smothering Cunningham. Visinia is bleeding from the mouth. Hard pokes on the body by Visinia.

Round 6

Cunningham is backing up and letting Visinia walk onto jabs. Nice combination up top by Cunningham. Visinia is wobbled. Cunningham lands the 1-2 on the face and digs a left hook downstairs as Visinia drops his guard and gives him free shots. Cunningham fires until he tires and ties up. Visinia puts his hefty arms out, pushing Cunningham off. Uppercut by Cunningham. Visinia actually comes off the balls of his feet with a hopping hook, grazing. Big chopping rights on the dome by Cunningham.

Round 7

Cunningham is sticking the jab and turning Visinia in the middle of the ring. Quick rhythmic crisp jabs on the face by Cunningham while moving, sliding and dragging his feet, never letting Visinia square up or walk him onto the ropes. Visinia's face is reddening. Awkward swipes by Visinia.

Visinia is stopped before the start of the eighth by the ringside doctor, on account of his facial injuries.

Yeah but Steve had begun taking over and Visinia was blowing hard and bleeding out.

 

Um, he's 38.

...and a natural cruiser. For his age and giving up 73 pounds he did pretty good, and his punches at heavy are respectable enough to destroy a guy's face. (and he did wobble the big Samoan once, too)
