This fight is going to be a disaster! No one is going to show up. I'm convinced by this thread.

Also, you're second source states that Mayweather-Hatton did 920.

    1.06 for Mayweather-Marquez, thus topping Pac's

EDIT - Also since I am quite bored and waiting for Starcraft 2 beta to finish DLing. you're average would be 905k for the Hatton fight.

but anyway, both are huge draws in the sport, Mayweather being slightly bigger.

dan rafael says 1.05 on his article.

so they are dead even then, but no 24/7 or big promotion for clottey/pac means it did less than it could have.

Would you pay 600$ to squint at a hanging tv screen?

I'll pay 55 and BBQ and watch it HD at my house.

I don't think it would of done much if anything for them.

Plus, factor in common opponents, blah blah blah.

    Where are you located again?

Dude, without 24/7, do you honestly think the marquez/may fight would have done a million? They saw marquez drink his own **** and they watched mayweather run his mouth.

A 24/7 would have sorta endeared some people to clottey. I'm almost certain 24/7 adds PPV #s. My friends who only watch big fights always talk about the 24/7s to me, no one said **** about clottey to me except "who is he?"

Fans of a fighter will trek halfway across the country to watch that guy fight. Mayweather doesn't have a huge, built-in fanbase like Hatton or De La Hoya, so far fewer people are willing to expend great deals of money just to see him fight.

But fans of boxing in general will gladly tune in to see him fight on TV, because he's a great boxer. They like boxing enough to watch on TV, but they don't care specifically about Floyd enough to pay exorbitant ticket prices to see him fight.

I'm a fan of American football. I am particularly a fan of the Saints. I will pay extra to see the Saints play live. I will watch the other teams on TV. That's not because the other teams make less exciting games, it's simply that I have no emotional investment in them, because I am not a die-hard fan of theirs, so it's not worth the significant added expense.

If anything you should be impressed that a guy without a serious national or regional fanbase still manages to make huge fight after huge fight. That says a lot about his talent, both as a boxer and a marketer.

I hope it does. I hate watching events with open seats.

What is it, 3 days? some impulsive people might feel the hype during the last couple days and just buckle and buy them, but if they were going to make a trip to vegas and drop the big money they would have had the tickets for a month now.

I used to live 1.5 hours from vegas, I would have considered going, but not 600 for nosebleeds. Like I said earlier, I am going to marquez vazquez 4, ringside, for 250.
