Former wba supermiddleweight champion holds a win over michael nunn only the 2nd man to beat nunn at the time, what are your thoughts on steve?
From what I remember, he was just a so-so fighter, nothing special. It was a huge upset when he beat Nunn, but I don't remember what else he did after that.
A solid journeyman pro, who took his chance when he met Nunn on the right night. On the some what infamous McCall who's bad bill! To be fair to Little his career is littered with minor upsets, that show he could of been better than what he was.
If I remember correctly, he passed at an early age from prostate cancer. In an interview Steve said it was not detected early as he thought it was just hemorrhoids. He was reported to be a very nice guy, family man, etc. RIP.
That is sad to know. I knew he died early, but I crassly put two and two together and got five, I fell for the stereotype and figured it was drugs/a murder....
i have a round of him against terry norris. solid fighter very ungainly but also natural just so you guys know. nunn and don king were campegining in the uk and british papers so he could get a unification fight with the winner of eubank-benn II...incredibly it was a draw. so he fought steve little who was ranked about 10 in the rankings after a few fights at 168. yeah big upset. does anyone have the little-nunn fight somwhere?
I was at Old Trafford and had, with a few tins in me, Benn winning 8-4. Watching the TV replay, I had it 7-5 Eubank, thus I can see why it was scored a draw. I know Benn wanted Nunn in 88, and the fight was pencilled in, until Watson got in the way and Nunn wanted the favour returned. The Little fight was, draw with Eubank or not, meant to set up Michael for a Nunn/Benn fight.atsch
