Steve Lovett is a 6'2 30 year old Light Heavyweight with a 15-0 12 KO's record. He was born and raised in Canberra, New South Wales, Australia and is fighting out of Houston, Texas. Lovett was a former National Champion in Australia with around 50 amateur matches he was a part time stonemason's apprentice and a sparring and training partner for Daniel Geale. Poor Steve, he's been boxing since the young age of 13 in Australia and has been a pro for 6 years and has a grand total of 15 matches. He couldn't get fights no matter how hard he's tried so he finally decided to pack up his stuff and come to the good ol' US of A, all the way to Texas, he's hook up with renowned trainer Ronnie Shields and since he's been here matches have been coming to him fast and furious, making up for all the lost time. He's a big guy but he moves very well he's somewhat awkward, it seems Geale rubbed off on him in some ways, but thankfully for him he packing far more of a punch than his fellow countryman. He has a nice left hook, and a brutal straight right, he's got a lot of potential and he might be a guy to keep an eye on, he's already appeared on a PBD undercard. Unfortunately that match isn't available but he looked damn good he hurt Samuel Miller a few times and then Miller hit him with 3 straight low blows getting himself DQ'd.Not a lot of footage but I'm sure there will be soon. So anyone think Lovett stands a chance against the current crop of Beastly Eastern European killing machines?
Anyone does as long as you are not scared to fight. You can have all the skill and power on the planet if Lovett has the will to win that night he will keep coming until he beats any of those guys. I can see him bloodied up and still moving forward for more. I fought with some of those Australian dudes back when I was active duty. They don't know when to quit (the real ones that is).
Yeah Aussies can be tough customers but they had a really bad last couple of years with Caparello, Geale, Fletcher, Tomlinson, Dib, Mundine and Zerafa all taking some pretty bad beatdowns. Hopefully Lovett, Dunn and Horn can break that cycle for them.
