Leith Victoria's Steve Simmons has announced that he is abandoning the light-heavyweight division where he lost a European title fight in Russia last month and will now concentrate on fighting exclusively at heavyweight in future. Simmons will also spend the remainder of the summer training with his uncle, Kenny Simmons, at an Edinburgh powerlifting gym
why don't he just turn pro anyway? he will never be olympic champion, and i heard he has been dropped from the gb squad
i know i think hes off his head,he had some pretty good pro offers but somehow thinks he can win the olympics.
He's probably on really good funding from the GB squad, or at least was until now so you can't really blame him, he has a son and needs a stable income. Think he is 26 so it's not that late to go pro for a heavyweight.
It's a complete joke hes off the GB team, they made him captain for a tournament which is great then they get him to lose weight to go in at LHW it never worked and then hes off the squad, very unfair imo.I've worked with stephen and as a cruiser weight he has quick hand and can dig hard.
he been ko'd a couple of times and also been stopped a few times too. his fight at the europeans that would have got him into the olympics, he was well ahead on points then got caught and stopped.
