The powerful young Canadian light middleweight has strung together an impressive 4-0 (4) run since his loss to Brandon Cook fourteen months ago, including a destruction of the reliably sturdy Lanardo "Pain Server" Tyner. He looks to extend that streak tomorrow night by avenging the first blemish of his career, an 8-round majority draw three years ago. Herrera has sprung a few upsets in his day, but hasn't tasted victory since July of 2016, losing unanimous decisions in his last two appearances. The vacant IBO 154lb International title will be on the line. Several unbeaten Canadians in showcase matches on the undercard.
Custio Clayton co-featuring. Probably going to destroy the poor scrawny Hungarian kid they've flown in for him. Step backward in class for him, disappointing.
Thanks "promoting" the fight. We should do a better job here by hyping our best guys a little. But I am not that thrilled about Buttler. He has a lot to prove. He is a little slow I find and his technique has many holes. I don't see champion material in him, unlike guys like Bute, Pascal, Lemieux and Superpimp.
Yeah the loss to Cook and previous draw with Herrera already clued us in that he isn't perfect, but he is exciting and the power at least does seem world class.
Butler has stoppage wins, back to back ones at that, over two extremely durable journeymen types... though both are now quite long in the tooth, it's certainly still not an easy task to accomplish. Makes me believe he does have legitimate power, if nothing else...
I got +185 odds on the rematch not going the distance... hoping it's another great war and that ends up being the case.
The Canadian heavyweight prospect fighting now is fighting a Mexican heavyweight whom lost, by stoppage, to a 200+ pound Denis Grachev......
Erik Bazinyan just knocked his overweight trial horse opponent to the canvas with a bodyshot... Bouts aren't particularly lighting the world on fire tonight as of yet.
After that performance, I think we may see the emergence of another at the very least title contender level prospect from Kazakhstan. Jukembayev looked devastating for the brief period that bout lasted.
