Moreno Fendero vs. William Langston, 10 rounds @ super middleweight

 

Langston is coming off a minor upset over previously undefeated Cuban southpaw Isaac Carbonell Portal on CountryBox last month.

He also has a 5" height and 1½" reach advantage.

That said, he's in with what appears to be a real-deal puncher at 168lbs in Moreno "The Soldier" Fendero. Antonin Hortie Décarie (the former fighter, now managing director for Eye of the Tiger) thinks very highly of Fendero.

 

This is Fendero's fifth outing in 2025 - competing in February, April June, September and now November. Longest layoff of the year was a day shy of 3 months.

 

Solid body shots by Fendero. Langston is already looking cautious.

 

This is growing kinda dull. If not for the massive height difference, I think Langston might be out cold by now. Fendero keeps lunging up but falling short with showstopper head shots. If he keeps successfully thumping on the midsection like he did early he could get the stoppage that way, but Langston is keeping his distance and being negative.

 

Bing! Just as I finished writing that above, Langston got rocked by a fly-fishing hook.

 

Carlos Irusta has it 39-37 Fendero, giving Langston the third.

 

This will give us a good test of Fendero's gas tank in the second half, having thrown the kitchen sink in the first five rounds. He has been past a 4th only twice in his career (both in 6-rounders that went the distance).

 

Fendero has pretty decent amateur credentials...beat the likes of John Joe Nevin, Viktor Yoka, Lancelot Proton de la Chappelle, and Pavel Sosulin while losing to guys you'd expect like Arlen López and Oleksandr Khyzhniak, among others.

 

Irusta has it 59-55 to Fendero.

 

The bout after this is all but sure to go a full ten as well. The main and co-main event, however, have a strong possibility of ending explosively at any time.

 

So much leaning, tying up, and shoulder thwacking...

Narrowing up on Irusta's card, 77-75 Fendero, with Langston taking the last two rounds - but that doesn't mean it's gotten any more interesting or entertaining.
