I got JuanMa by late stoppage. But damn...I didn't realize the difference in height was so significant even though Boxrec has them both listed at 5'7...

I got Luevano winning via Decision, But in MSG it's going to be tough to get it. Do we have competent judges scoring this one?

Lopez just came out of a tough fight after he suffered a beating. The effects of that fight could show in the later rounds. Lopez does posses the power necessary to beat Luevano. It is natural to prefer Lopez as well.

However, Luevano in the Concepcion fight was able to neutralize Concepcion without any issues. That fight should give Luevano an edge as far as experience goes. Furthermore, Luevano has shown that he can use his jab to control the match. He enters and exits with grace. In order to win he has to use the ring and his jab effectively.

The way I see it is that Juan Manuel will not be able to get past the jab of Luevano. I also believe this fight surprisingly may look a bit like the Pac and Marquez fight. It will go 12 rounds and the decision will be controversial.

I still favor Luevano by decision as he is the more experienced and intelligent fighter, who also has the better corner.

I feel the same about the effect of the last fight JuanMa had showing in the late rounds. But at the same time that hellacious cheap shot Concepcion dropped Steven with after the bell might show some effects if he starts getting tagged . that was a brutal shot.

You are also right about the corners, luevano has a strong corner.

I'm a fan of both fighters, but especially Luevano since I've been watching his fight for a couple of years. I agree with everything you said. Luevano is smart, a great counterpuncher, moves well, has fast reflexes, and has that good fast jab. He also has a good chin, more experience, and a bit taller. Lastly, JuanMa is moving up in weight. Juanma's power, as impressive as it may seem, isn't anything new to Luevano who dealt with Concepcion's power. On the flip-side, Juanma is the confident young lion wanting to dethrone Luevano, otherwise why would he take such a hard fight in his featherweight debut? As mentioned earlier he hits hard and sharply, and a good boxer overall. I admit that I haven't seen much of JuanMa, so I'll refrain from choosing between the two fighters, and I chose draw in this poll.

Luevano seems to have a naturally bigger build and better skill set. He will keep Lopez outside most of the time, hurt him occasionally, and win a closer than it should be decision.

Either that or JuanMa is a friggin midget.

That's probably because Lopez didn't look so great in his last fight, and in most fans minds...you're only as good as your last performance. Had this fight taken place say after one of JuanMa's first round demolition jobs, I'm sure it would be a different story.
