well done to lewis Paulin and his team, I didn't get the chance to attend this fight due to work but heard it was a great performance by lewis Paulin and deservedly got the win on an MTK Promotion show (Tiffney is Promoted/Managed by MTK). I have spoke with quite a few neutrals who were there and they all agree that lewis won comfortably but I hear that once again Terry mccormack is crying robbery??? Terry really needs to get a grip, every time his guys get beat its a robbery tiffney vs paulin Forsyth vs pagan thain vs heffron thain vs carslaw with the exception of thain vs heffron all of the rest have been pretty clear defeats yet he has the cheek to always cry robbery maybe he should concentrate on improving his fighters instead of looking for excuses and maybe even get their weights right
Just shows you the difference in how people view a fight because the folk I know who attended thought tiff net had it.
tbh the only people i have spoken to that thought tiffney won were guys that are/have been involved with him at some point. i spoke too quite a few guys from the west and almost all thought it was paulin that deserved it. maybe someone has it recorded and we could have a look? I'm a bit pissed that i couldn't get the time off work as i saw it as a genuine 50/50 but favouring tiffney after his last showing against troy james. just hate it when coaches look for an excuse instead of just giving the other boxer the credit they deserve for winning the fight. just reeks of bad sportsmanship from the tiffney camp especially terry who as i showed above has priors for crying robbery
I was at the show Saturday and it was a very entertaining bout, I have seen both up close sparring Darren Traynor and I knew it had all the makings of a great one. I had seen Tiff sparring Carl Frampton earlier this year and the way he looked in sparring Carl and also the way he dismantled Troy James last time out made me feel that Tiff had the edge. A lot of the rounds were close and Tiff was landing the more eye catching single punches but Lewis had a steady work rate in most of the rounds so I can see where people are getting the win for Tiff, if they liked the single eye catching punches then the close rounds could have went to him. Although it is hard for me to say as I've known Tiff for a long time and have seen him progress all throughout the ranks I just thought that Lewis done the better work throughout the fight and was more consistent. I said to Ronnie Clark after 8 rounds that I thought Tiff needed to win the last 2 to get a draw. I had the fight to Lewis Paulin by 3 rounds but I can see why people might have gave it the other way as I said quite a few rounds were close. @boxingcrazy what you are saying about Terry imo is way off, I'm sure they were more annoyed that the score was 98-92 in Lewis' favour as I don't think anyone including Lewis' own team would have had him winning by 6 rounds. I think if the result was by 2 or 3 rounds then their reactions would have been different. Terry is a class act and I'm not sure if you know him personally but if you did I don't think you would be saying the things you are about him. Unless you have a personal vendetta against him or the Lochend Gym?
It was a very good fight but the scorecard was miles off. I scored it to Tiffney by a point but thought a draw would have also been fair. It was the worst I had seen Tiffney box TBH -- but Paulin was fit and consistent. A rematch would be good to see down the line! I can see why Tiffneys team were unhappy with the wide score!!!
lol no personal vendetta but Terry has a reputation of stealing boxers from other gyms and im sure you know that, none of my boxers have left for lochend but ive seen it happen from loads of other clubs around Edinburgh
only people raving about tiffney was his club mates and MTK. he has always been pretty average and I always thought Lewis paulin would beat him. tiffney doesn't live the life from what I've heard
that is nonsense - his win over Troy James was very good and well received. Sounds like you have a bee in your bonnet about his club!
Agreed. Very few would have predicted a Paulin win from anyone who I know of, with many still saying tiffney should have had the nod. If anyone out the two of them is "average" it's your good mate Lewis. You definetely have an agenda here.
on paper the win against troy James was impressive but lets be honest here, troy since fighting for the super feather title fought twice once at just under 10st and again at 9st 9. he was a career super feather that was fighting at his lightest ever at the age of 34, how much lower weight fighters do well in their mid thirties dropping weight lets just get this straight I have watched tiffney since he was a young lad at gilmerton and also watched him imo beat Joe ham at the Scottish and get rogered but I just think he has been overrated because of his win over troy James. he is 29 had a long amateur career and his opposition bar James has been less than average. I'm not saying lewis paulin is an amazing prospect but with what I'd seen of the 2 in the pros I favoured lewis to win and I've been proved right with the outcome of the fight what I find annoying is Terry and how he always sulks after a defeat, after the Brian Forsyth was beat by reece pagan he was chucking it in altogether and Tommy philbin had to leave and go train with @billy nelson for his next fight. I can understand it happening but every time his guys get beat it is a robbery and there is a conspiracy theory behind it. tiffney missed the weight, who's fault is that? the fight was on an mtk promotion so if it was close you would think the 'home fighter' would get the decision I just think that if you keep getting told you were robbed etc when do the boxers start to change their training or game plans etc they will just continue to train the same and say not my fault it was a robbery I really don't want to come across like it is a personal thing but I feel I have put across my points and they might not be to every else but they are my opinions.
I disagree about the agenda but you seem to be taking offence at my opinion. I have stated in reply to another post that I believe that tiffney is getting overrated after a win against troy James who was 34 and fought at a weight he had never fought before in featherweight. maybe you have been speaking to people close to tiffney but trust me I've spoken to guys from the west coast and all of the say it was a fair result although the score was probably closer I've never said lewis Pauling is the next big thing but I just believed that he beat tiffney. 90% of people said that tiffney after James fight but I just wasn't as impressed as most with that win. I feel at feather Lewis can win a British title and possibly more. tiffney could still reach that level and it would be an interesting rematch down the line but tiffney would have to make weight properly imo
