Even though Johnson had Stevens backing up the majority of the rds, he got hit just as much as he gave, and finally got caught at his own game late.

By comparaison, GGG owned Stevens in every rd, knocked him heavily in the second, and made him quit while barely sustaining any damage himself.

    Class right there. :deal

They said Johnson lost in the quarterfinals at the 2008 Olympics last night. Anyone know who beat him and the score? I assume it was at amateur MW 165 lbs.

Stevens went the distance with Brinkley, and landed a fair amount of punches early on.

Johnson looked a full weightclass bigger than Stevens. It's crazy to me that he was ever actually fighting at Super Middle, considering he looks small even for the middleweight division.

I think that you're forgetting that Brinkley sucks, losing to him is embarrassing.

Losing 10 rounds to Brinkley and getting dropped is even worse

Curtis Stevens became some sort of beloved figure on ESB after the Golovkin loss for obvious agenda-driven reasons.

This fight should make everyone come back down to Earth and realize just the quality that Stevens is; nothing special whatsoever. See: his whole career.

I think Brinkley is a very solid pro who clearly overachieved.

But since Stevens happens to have lost to him, i'll instead agree with ya to say Jesse clearly sucks. :hi:

    DA BUM !

    GGG way overrated !

Yeah GGG beat someone, they clearly must not be any good at all. Anyone who says otherwise is the one with the agenda.

I swear I remember watching this one live and I liked Johnson back then. He was the most interesting boxer I saw that olympics, (didn't watch that much) I think he had a brother fighting too.
