How do people view this one? Is it meaningful, given the depth of the SMW division? Meant to be an eliminator for Bute, how big a name in the US is Jesse? Could be a nice stateside defence for Bute if Jesse manages the win
Brinkley is a reality tv boxer, a former Contender. Bute would kill him, perhaps literally. The Stevens v Brinkley fight should be entertaining, but it doesn't mean anything within the division.
This is a decent fight for ESPN. Neither guy will ever be a major fighter at 168 but they are decent and are being evenly matched here. Neither guy stands any chance whatsoever against Bute.
Neither Stevens nor Brinkley is a big name. Brinkley has a big local following in the Reno area from what I understand, but that's about it. Stevens used to have a following in the New York area until DiBella dumped him. Both guys are warriors, and this could be a very entertaining domestic-level bout. However, neither one has a chance in hell of beating Bute. Stevens maybe has a puncher's chance, but that's about it.
one of the few fighters from the contender series that actually lived up to it's name. he is a fun fighter to watch, funny and a classy genuine fighter. after robin reid spit on him at the end of the fight when he was talking to the news guys after. them trying for him to go on a rant. but he stayed pretty calm. after a very severe unsportsmanlike moves from reid. stevens is good to watch as well. big left hand. just tiny for the division i guess he is used to it and becuase he is so small he can be awkward to get shots of against ala qawi. personally i think stevens has too much for him brinkley isnt a great fighter on the back foot and catch and throw is the only tactic stevens does well. could be a clinic or a tough fight.
