He's got a brain bleed and they put him into induced coma.

So, career well and truly over.

Whatever one might think of him, i'll mention each time Adonis ended the fight by brutal KO, he showed zero sympathy or welfare concern for his fallen foe.

Like Tyson, he actually relished hurting people.

So, what goes around comes around.

i had this happen to a Sparring Partner of mine 2 years ago. it was the final Sparring on a Wednesday.....i had a fight on Saturday. i hit him with a Right Hand, and i could immediatly tell something was wrong. he wanted to actually spar on, but i refused and told him to sit down. while sitting he became a bit quiet so i told him to talk to me About anything, his work, whatever. at first everything seemed fine. then suddenly he had Trouble finishing his sentences. at that Point i immediatly called an ambulance. they came quickly……..but he collapsed and they needed nearly 45 minutes to revive him in the abulance before leaving!!!! the longest minutes of my life.
at the Hospital i waited for them to tell me anything….but since im no relative, they didnt tell me much. finally a surgeon came and talked to me, telling me that it s 50/50. i still remember shaking his Hand while still having the wraps on!
he had surgery that very day. they removed a huge part of his scull so his brain could swell. on Friday i visited him……..and except for the fact that he had a part of his skull missing, he was in good Spirits.
i asked him what i should do...……..and he simply said: im an adult. i knew the risks. it s better to have this happen to you doing something you love and that means something rather than getting hurt while slipping in the shower.
and of Course to fight the next day. so i did.

Are you one of those oddballs who defends people with well 'X' is worse? As you can defend almost anyone with that line of reasoning.

Mandatory retirement when you hit 41 could be an idea.

Mike Towell was 25. Of a boxer passes a medical, can’t do much really.

Late round knockouts are extremely dangerous because the body is dehydrated and brain fluid levels can drop. The synapses are less likely to recover and the prospect of recovery are worse.

Tragic for that dude but I think the elite level should have some age restriction when it comes to championship belts at least.

I hear you, OP, although in this case I don't think it was at all a late stoppage. Competitive fight and until those last few moments, nothing to fear. You could argue that when Stevenson turned the ref should have gotten a little closer, but there's only so much you can do in real time like that. Especially in the corner.

It’s a shame it had to come to this, the referee could have stopped it, his team could of stopped it but ultimately Stevenson had to know that he had enough.

In that Jack fight I saw Stevenson go to the bottom of the well and dig every bit of will he had in order to survive that fight. He took a beating that 41 year olds shouldn’t take imo. I knew this Gvozdyk fight wouldn’t end well for him just didn’t expect him to get hurt this bad.

I was actually surprised the home ref didn't at least give him a count.

Stevenson was landing shots in that rd and more than keeping his own.

I don't think the stoppage was a late one. Sadly it's boxing.

Still on the Saxa since I called you out for billy bullshitting last night I see. You're one of those cranks that take an internet shoeing very personally.

It says exactly what you wrote, plus the fact that he was beating her a lot. Harsh thing to say, but if Stevenson can't take care of his newborn girl, it might actually be better for the newborn girl's life.
