That fight is probably happening. Bute said about two weeks ago that he was going to fight december 6. Stevenson had until the 19th to sign something with someone and GYM said that their was a deal but that they were going to announce it later. Source:

But here, they say Campillo might be up next: http://www.boxingnews24.com/2014/09/is-adonis-stevenson-wasting-his-career/

I think Maxim has his sources. He is probably right.

Because fighters can scream "Dis a bizniss!" when they just want easy fights for big fight money and there are ****s out there who will defend it.

Isn't that what Bute did until he ran into Froch?

As I recall, when his fans were asked why he wasn't fighting tougher opposition their reply is the same one they are using from GGG today; "No one wants to fight him. He is being ducked".

Before the Super 6 final, Ward and Froch both acknowledged that the winner should go on to fight Bute.
Ward turned into a promoter/manager in the post fight interview and made excuses why he shouldn't have to fight Bute and completely clean out his division.
Trust me. You are out of your element here.

It doesn't matter what Froch or Ward said because while they were saying it Bute was still facing weak opposition and like Ward said, He didn't deserve the opportunity of facing the S6 winner.

Meanwhile Bute fans were praising Bute as the 2nd coming and that his uppercut would KO Ward or Froch. That the reason he was facing weak opposition (like GGG is now) is because he was the most feared man in the sport.
Bute was a bad man, back then.

Now all his fans have left him sad and alone and he watches from the sidelines as GGG now gets all his past praise.

Just because Bute got a beatdown from The Cobra who should be considered P4P top 5 right now, doesn't automatically make Bute worthless and devalue any accomplishment he's had, Froch beat him by KO, but Froch is a bad motherfukker who has beaten the **** out of basically everyone he fights who don't run from him like Dirrell or clinch and hug like Ward.
Bute is a talent who's lost his confidence, if and when he can recapture it, which is a big if, he may still be able to accomplish something of merit.
Just because someone loses to a top tier fighter it doesn't mean they suck, it just means they are not as good as......

I'm not a Bute fan. Andre Ward did not want that fight. Those are facts.
Bute wasn't invited to the S6 because he was under contract with HBO at the time. The Andrade rematch was on HBO. Bute signed a deal with Showtime during the Super 6 and was supposed to be added as a replacement but Dan Goossen threatened to pull Ward out of the tournament.
Bute was the #2 at 168lbs after the Super 6. He was the IBF champ, undefeated and offered a career high payday in Canada and even said he would travel to California to fight Ward.
Bute had better performances against common opponents(Bika, Miranda) than Ward did. Hell, Bute beat Bika easier than Calzaghe did.
None of Andre Ward's excuses hold up. Ward or Ward's team did not want anything to do with Bute.
Here's where you're supposed to make excuses about Ward needed time to recover from injuries(like people were expecting Ward to fight Bute the next week:patsch) or how fighting 175lb champ Chad Dawson at 168lbs(who's idea was that really?:think) was a bigger fight.:rofl

I agree, it should be Pascal. I'm just trying to follow Stevenson's thinking should there be any truth to this thread.

He's still a big draw in Quebec right? and still has name recognition.

I think, if true, Pascal is getting screwed over btw.

If Bute didn't, nobody at 168 did.

Actually, that explains a lot about Andre's semi-retirement. If nobody at the weight is worthy to fight you and you won't move, that could be a problem.

Apparently Stevenson is fighting a voluntary defence in December.

Maybe Pascal will fight in the mean time too.

But the arena has been booked for that date
