    the fight was in toronto first big fight in toronto in a long time. they had people from the canadian version of shark tank "dragons den" offering 50,000 dollars for 10% off boxing profits from that boxer for the rest of their careers.

    and let say the other posters 2 million is accurate as well.

    2 million for fighting a guy like that is still a lot.

    You're estimate is not reasonable at all, especially not when the viewership was 581,000 for that fight.

    I'm sure he got just a little bit over when the guarantee was. He didn't make even close to $2 million.

    Our fellow Canadian brethren aren't as bright as Americans, but they're not that dumb.

    doesnt matter what the american viewership was. the only way to watch it in canada other than being at the event was ppv.

    Sadly I've never watched a PBC event legally before.
    In the province of quebec these boxers, bute, pascal and stevenson are household names. everyone knows of them. most famous french Canadians.

    each title fight in quebec is on a french broadcast ppv. which always has sold very well. Stevenson isn't making money because he's popular in the usa. Haymon knows stevenson is a ppv draw in the quebec market

    so he get's PBC in usa and maybe england (not sure about england)
    but also on top of that gets ppv money

    Beterbiev is injured.

    Stevenson is an old man who really, like Rigondeaux, probably doesn't have any motivation to fight anymore, but if Kovalev was smart he would have forced his promoter into a purse bid.

    Fonfara's career is doing great. He's a decent contender who keeps fighting on premium cable, what else do you want?

    I'm hoping they make Stevenson vs Beterbiev and then Beterbiev vs Kovalev down the line. You build the first fight with Fonfara vs Beterbiev and voila everyone stays busy.

    Beterbiew had a bad shoulder injury and had surgery.

    He'll be back in June. Sucks but what can you do. An injury is an injury.
