The Stevenson fight topped out at 800,000. The T.S. took the first numbers he read and ran with them. True, his past numbers were better but like I said, a lot of people probably didn't even know he was fighting.

Stevenson peaked at that yes. Thurman fight averaged over 800. So if we do the math that means Thurman peaked at over 800k.

People will continue to tune in for Keith Thurman because he won't run away and hide from the best fight in his division.

Man, you are worse at excuses than the other guy. What does your post have to do with the Stevenson/Fonfara ratings?

it's worth noting that his fight with bellew was a co-feature.

And last Saturday was a triple header with two popular Canadian "headline" fighters.

it shows that Showtime's ratings should be placed on a different scale. You have to compare their fight's ratings to other fights on their channel. You can't compare an ESPN or NBC Sports fight to an HBO or FoxSports1 fight in ratings.

Getting a million viewers on HBO is average while getting a million on Showtime is pretty good. The only fights I know of that did over a million were Canelo vs Trout, Trout vs Cotto, Garcia vs Herrera, Broner vs Paulie, Broner vs Maidana, and Hopkins vs Murat

Showtime is getting robbed. Espinoza is going to get fired soon if he keeps overpaying for fights.

Kovalev/Agnew did over 1 million viewers.

Two premiere cable networks with very similar subscription numbers is the nearest thing to compare.

the co-feature was kovalev/sillah and hbo has way more viewership.

outside of canada...and houston...neither guy on the undercard is that well known.

showtimes viewership has increased under espinosa. you need to do your research and stop listening to the shills.

Again, nobody outside of hardcore boxing fans even know who the hell the Krusher is! Let alone Sillah.

HBO subscribers compared to Showtime subscribers are about +/- 7 milliion. Having a core of 22 million for Showtime and past fights putting up higher ratings, using the excuse that HBO has more viewers is a weak standing.

Just admit it. HBO is much better and presenting and promoting a fighter in their stable to become a household name. I know this doesn't fit your "Showtime is better" mantra, but the facts are facts.

hbo has been ahead of the curve on subscribers for quite some time. they've been at it longer and have been quality. i take nothing away from their production. it's the commentary i take issue with. but when it comes to fights....showtime has been putting on better fights for quite sometime. now you may say...hbo had pac...hbo had floyd...hbo had oscar...hbo had roy...blah,blah,blah...but as a hardcore fan, i want to see competitive fights. showtime was called the home of the upset for quite a while because unlike hbo...they weren't giving fighters contracts. they were buying the fights they wanted. hbo was spending more to get less...showtime was spending less to get more. that's why hbo hired ken hershman. it still hasn't helped them. now showtime has floyd...that's the game changer. showtime gives more bang for the buck. period. you can look at numbers head to head...and yeah...hbo should be superior...but you can't deny showtime is gaining ground.
