so you're saying Kovalev should ditch ME (the people who got him from fighting in airport hangars to where he is today) and HBO to try to get a fight with Stevenson?

 

Unfortunately that is the current state of boxing. Stevenson is making more money getting less viewers. Why would he risk that when he has the chance to fight an ATG like Bernard Hopkins and make the most money in his career?

if he beats Hopkins, then credit to him, but he shouldn't be avoiding his next most dangerous challenge, whatever TV channel he fights on or who his promoter, from a business point of view even Kovalev admitted he made a smart decision

 

Canadian PPV market must be much much larger than I thought. Because theres no way a BHop-Stevenson fight does top numbers on regular SHO let alone sell PPV in the US.

Stevenson will get some decent money for the fight, sure. But if it was anywhere close to 5m I would be pretty astounded.

 

the budget for game of thrones may be huge....but i can guarantee the return on investment doesn't touch a mayweather or pac ppv.
