Adonis Super Not enjoying a penny :deal The USA has lots of good people, justice will be served in the least time desired I lose my grudge against Adonis Superbitch if he fights Kovalev, otherwise his name will be immortalized as Adonis Superbitch Stevenson...the more he ducks, the more serious it becomes, even Haymon will ditch him when things get paranormal :deal
What if he fights Hopkins instead? :think Who would you say has a better resume between Hopkins and Kovalev? :think Who would you say makes for a more lucrative opponent between Hopkins and Kovalev? :think
Or maybe HBO doesn't want to air that fight at all and the Stevenson's clan ismaking it seems like Showtime is bringing "more" money and that HBO doesn't want to "match" it. Meaning: Showtime is the only one puting some money since HBO is not putting any money on the table since they only want Stevenson vs Kovalev... while Stevenson doesn't want any of that!
Kovalev isn't going to be ready in time for Stevenson-Fonfara, so if that's the logic, why in the world should Stevenson wait around? Should he just make no money and remain inactive or go to the network actually willing to pay him to fight? HBO doesn't have the leverage you're attributing to them here.
Hopkins brings more money to the table. per NYSAC. Bernard Hopkins $750,000 Tavoris Cloud $550,000 Keith Thurman $150,000 Jan Zaveck $25,000 (with TV rights) ****, Keith Thurman, against Zaveck, made just as much as KOvalev did against Sillah.
come on, Drozzy. you've got a good head on your shoulders and talk sense. well, most of the time. you know Adonis is making this fight with Kovalev as difficult as possible. the man is scared. i'm sure that HBO are willing to put a fair whack of money on the table for the fight that the boxing world want to see. HBO knows it makes sense. but if Showtime come up with more $$$'s, then nobody cares. just as long as they fight. the TV station they fight on is irrelevant. but no matter what kind of money Showtime bring to the table, Adonis is still going to make things very difficult indeed. no matter who is bidding the most for the fight. and i think you know that. :good
Some artful maneuvering by Haymon and SHO to stop HBO from making one of the biggest fights that could be made this year. It ain't Stevensons fault, arguably he could get more money (though I'm not convinced - sad Chad only got 750K or so to fight BHop) - but to me it very clearly looks like a deliberate attempt to sabotage a top HBO fight. All the pieces are in place now - essentially with Shumenovs paper belt, Stevenson and BHop on side SHO can play kingmakers at 175, conveniently sidelining Kovalev...indefinitley if necessary unless he wants to go fight with them...saw this **** coming months ago..smh. If this is the case it's a dispiriting new phase of the cold war - actually sabotaging big fights between non TR / GBP fighters by using Haymon and the lure of the big $s.
I think HBO have the $s for Kovalev - Stevenson. but this is about putting up the money for Stevenson - Fonfara, which is obviously a big part of the build up...the point is that SHO doesn't necessarily want this, but they know how badly HBO does and might be able to force them - via a bidding war - to overextend their budget. Apparently Agnew (Kovalevs opponent) suddenly doubled his asking price around the time Stevenson signed with Haymon - obviously stretching the coffers further - though I have no evidence the events are connected. If HBO are going have to massively overpay for these build-up fights it means they might struggle t pay for the main events and have to sacrifice some of these, or cut corners elsewhere...it looks to me like a kind of economic warfare, but one in which we, the boxing fans are gonna suffer. Let me ask you this - which fight are you most excited for, Stevenson - Kovalev, or Stevenson - Hopkins?
But Stevnson is already in the $mil+ range to fight to fight Kovalev and apparently wants more - unless SHO are really willing to sink a hell of a big purse into Adonis vs 'Nard, I suspect Stevenson is gonna be a little disappointed - LHW just doesn't pay like a top WW or JMW fight. IMO this is a lot more to do with forcing HBO to pay way over the odds to make the big fight than anything else.
This is FIGHTING! What happened to LEGACY?! GTFO with this BULL****! Adnois, I hope you read this ... you are the biggest ***** in all of boxing! No one wants to see Hopkins gimp around the ring, holding onto to Stevenson for 12 rounds. Anyone who says theyd rather see that then Kovs and Stevenson is an idiot.
