Stevenson is a One-hand Wonder

With every fight his star dims for me, he exposes himself. His stamina is horrible, his punch variety and selection leaves much to be desired, his defense is leaky. This guy has only one thing, a straight left. Notice every time someone attacks him and presses him he can't do a thing, and once he gets tired everyone can land on him. His boxing is decent, and his legs are decent as well, but a cerebral guy who can take the left straight away wins 12 rounds easily, might even stop him by baiting him to throw it and countering him time after time. A guy like Kovalev can eat him alive by simply pressing the action, forcing him to work and land shots. Heck even a guy who isn't afraid of his punch has a chance if they aren't afraid to go at him. 1000 y.o Bhop beats him, Ward at 168 beats him GGG beats him, Kovalev beats him, I'd even pick Pascal to beat him.

 

I think he ices him too, but to be fair, he's not ready yet. Still needs a bit more pro experience I think. Unfair to rank him highly without being tested too proper yet

 

First off, I never called him a bum, I don't use that word, and I also stated he has decent skills and legs. So let's get that straight as well. He's got some level of skill be default to be at this level beating guys, but stating that Id'd pick a bunch of guys over him does mean something. It means I don't think he's as good as what he's rated as in the division. I'd favor Pascal over him because of his style of ambushing and making you work, and Stevenson doesn't fight well at all when being attacked. He just doesn't impress me is all I'm saying. Take away the power in that left and I can't think of many guys in the top 10 who can't beat him. If I took away GGG power I still say he can outbox and outwork the guy's he's defeated til now. Same with Kovalev, etc.

 

Well what I'm inferring to is the way GGG employs his attack, he takes the steam off incoming shots with head rolls, and he utilizes smart punching such as Canelo does, so even when he's not hurting or stopping guys he's outboxing them easily. Kovalev outboxed hopkins not because of his power, because he never really landed anything hurtful up until the 12th round. Watch how he used his length to keep Hopkins on the end of his jab, and how he stepped around the attempts at crowding, and how he used intelligent combinations when he pushed Bhop around with his jab. These are what I'm talking about. Even without power in that fight, he still would've beat Bhop. Martinez is a bad example to me because he's more of a boxer than he is a puncher, he just went on that string for about 2 years when he was stopping guys but before that he was just a good boxer, but Roy is a good one.
