Not bad $$$ for fighting a nobody as a tune-up for even bigger money when he fights Hopkins.

    great.

I'm totally psyched that he's making that much. That means the world to me.

I'm also glad we don't get to see another great fight.

Let Stevenson get his Hopkins payday, then we'll see about Kovalev.

Stevenson chose to chase a fight with Hopkins, which he's likely to get, instead of fighting Kovalev, his biggest threat.

Martinez chose to fight Cotto for big bucks instead of fighting Golovkin, his biggest threat.

...but Martinez doesn't get anywhere near the amount of **** for it. :deal

Good for him, except unless you are his ***** I don't know why you'd care how much he makes.

Martinez is also coming off a catastrophic knee injury.

Might have a lil to do with it.

    That's a fair point.

At the same time I'd venture that Cotto is a better 'fight-before-the-fight-we-all-want-to-see' than Fonfara is.

Cotto is still dangerous so they feel confident to a degree. Lou DiBella is well known to say that Golovkin is "an animal"... he said he would never put comebacking Sergio in with him, I'd assume he would not put Sergio in with him if he doesn't feel great in the Cotto fight. Plus, Sergio was talking retirement not long ago, great chance he calls it a day after the fight.

Chances that we never see Martinez vs Golovkin >>> Chances that we never see Kovalev vs Stevenson

I don't know how I feel about those two as opponents.

First time at MW but more skilled than most MW contenders

    vs

Full fledged LHW but less skilled than most LHW contenders

    :think

I think Showtime overpaid Stevenson in order to keep him off HBO and secure him for Hopkins. He is a hot commodity in the sport given the current landscape.

That is a lot of money for a tune-up.

Overpriced sparring match if you ask me.

People don't want to listen to the attention that Fonfara beat Campillo by nukowt just as did Kovalev and this is Kovalev's best ever win? But Fonfara is bad opponent? Ah, I see...Polish hate?
