Stevenson is old and past his prime and has no gas tank.

Yeah, he didn't recover well from the original shot, I think he will have to get used to more body attacks because after that every opponent will be trying to sink them in regularly.

Stevenson would have won this even a year earlier. Stevenson also wasnt as sharp there, I think Kovalev would kill him unless the body shots hurt but I think early on Kovalev would knock him out.

Kovalev to me is officially 100% the best guy at 175.

Kovalev himself is not the same now, as well.

Well, he got a draw against the LHW champion. I don't think he needs an excuse for that. I think that means he did pretty well!

Truly not trying to be a smart arse here, I prob agree with you, but which opponents that Kovalev beat do you think Stevenson would not have been able to? Darnell Boone aside... I think it's a legit question worthy of debate.

seeing stevenson get up at 6 vs boone and knowing he had him down twice prior makes me think that was a bad stoppage, boone doesnt have very good power walking forward either only on the backfoot which is a unique talent.
I think Kovalev have had their ups and downs at points, but I think Kovalev is fresher because of age. sure stevenson vs kova can happen now but it's just too late.

and I'm a stevenson fan, my user name is the name of the montreal expos mascot.

and I dont think either has a win that stands out. other than ward I think stevenson beats all those guys kova faced. but same for Kovalev fighting the same guys. but maybe jack could get another draw with kova

it is true. a 40 year old fighting below heavyweight cannot win for long. He slowed down to the point where younger guys will win. Average younger guys. Heavyweight can fight past 40 because speed is not a big issue.. Which is what getting older affects the most.

I don't think Kovalev would like those body shots

But he does need an excuse for NEVER WINNING MORE THAN 6 ROUNDS IN ANY FIGHT. I've never seen a mother****er get so much credit for not getting KO'd when everyone thinks he's going to get KO'd and that in reality, is why he gets so much love. Waaaaah, all he gets is draws, well how about winning one more ****ing round, that might do the trick.

Stevenson should definitely retire after that. Or after one cherry picked good bye fight.

His gas tank is not up to the level it needs to be.

He showed great heart to get his second wind after being beaten up in rounds 6-9, and come through retaining his belt.

Jack looked his normal solid self, but you can’t start fighting when you are 5 rounds down on the cards like that.

in this case a draw is a borderline stretch even. he had stevenson exactly where he wanted him maybe even better than he thought he'd get him and he ended up getting hurt himself, this fight sucked. I dont get the fight of the year, it stunk. if it wasn't for stevenson past. I'd say jack came off as more unlikable. please no rematch.
