Stevenson is trying to one-up Pascal. Couldn't care less about Kovalev. Not a duck.

The week after Stevenson-Dawson, Pascal was interviewed by the Montreal media and answered pretty much every question with something along the lines of "I beat Dawson first, at his peak".

The week after Bute-Pascal, Pascal was interviewed (Jan 20th) on the RDS show "L'Antichambre" and diminished Stevenson's accomplishments in comparison to his. Claimed he was still the man in town, the man to beat.

Ever since the Dawson KO, Stevenson's been talking about fighting Hopkins. Look it up, it's a constant.

The crowd at Stevenson-Bellew couldn't understand jack **** of what Kellerman was saying, I'm talking from first hand experience knowing what level of comfort in English the population of Quebec City has. Hence the non-reaction to ALL Q&A from the post-fight interview.

Stevenson is going after Hopkins to one-up Pascal who still thinks he's the man in town.

Pascal's last time in Stevenson's corner, looking all chill & fresh, was in LV against Dion Savage who Stevenson savaged in 1 round. Pascal's look after the KO was priceless.

This is a local war you motherfukkers don't understand **** about. You keep stroking each other's cawk saying duck, duck, duck oh yeah you're so right it's a duck. Wrong, you dumbfukks. This is about Stevenson's local popularity vs Pascal's. Adonis doesn't give two shits about Kovalev, especially when the contract to fight him was NOT signed - otherwise you'd be looking at a legal onslaught from HBO/Main Events.

At work for the whole day and will check this thread in about 8 hours. You ain't got **** on this. :deal

    Come at me.

Makes no sense. Wasnt Stevenson asked about fighting Pascal and ducked that as well? Want to show up Pascal? Just fight him.

He could have fought Kovalev next and Pascal after that, then jumped to SHO and fought Shumenov/BHop. Unlike other people in the sport, Stevenson was not limited by who would step into the ring with him - but rather who he will step in with.

He was actually in a position to pull a Ward and fight the whole division, which is a rare opportunity in todays political and business climate. When someone has that rare opportunity and does not take it, its a shame.

But it is what it is. But when you pass up that kind of opportunity, I just take it as admission that he couldnt win. I would have thought differently a couple months ago - but if the fighter himself doesnt think he can win a fight, I am going to be inclined to agree with them.

Stevenson has defined his legacy. Its not "Superman" anymore. He is just some guy who caught a much faded Dawson cold, and is trying to market his way to the top.

I doubt Stevenson cares if someone says he's ducking Kovalev. It appears the Hopkins fight is the one he wanted the most, and he did what he needed to do to put himself in position for that fight. It's disappointing that the Kovalev fight is not happening. Fans have every right to express any anger they have over the situation.

A little over stated,Droz, but I get what your saying.Sometimes being a big fish in a small pond is better than being exposed in a great ocean where you can't swim with the sharks.
Stevenson the World Champion of Canada.Crusher the champion of the rest of the world is how this is going to go down.

One upsmanship would've been taking out Kovalev, and the OP knows it. It ain't about legit bragging rights to impress other boxing people, otherwise the Kovalev fight would happen.

And it's hilarious to think there's some kind of massive turf war between Pascal and Stevenson when the two won't fight each other- how much animosity can there really be?

It's occurred to me that even you must realize how many excuses you make for this guy. Most of the other Canadians have even stopped doing so.

If he wants to one up Pascal, and make a bunch of Montreal money in doing so, how about fight Pascal coming off a monster(in Montreal anyway) win?

Just say it. He's milking this title and looking for the easiest road to do so. It's not hard. Just say it.

I kinda get what the OP is saying. It is a friendly rivalry (because they will never fight each other) and it may play a small part in his train of thought of fighting bhop over kov. But the real thing is money, why fight a tune up and a unification bout for a lot less on HBO than on Show. HBO dropped the ball
