Martinez was considered The Champ before Golovkin had really made his mark on The division. Martinez needs to fight him or his stake to being The Champ will be called into question. At least to the level it once was. He has been largely inactive due to injury though, and that could play a part. If he manages to push it off until he retires there will be no doubt he avoided GGG. I'm hoping he will after Cotto, should he win, which I think he does.
