Stevenson-Kovalev may never happen!

The ball's in Stevenson's court. Adonis is the one who won't agree to fight Kovalev in the fall. HBO wants to show both fights, Haymon might be trying to work the system by getting HBO to bid against Showtime who really doesn't have the capital to bid for Stevenson.

 

If Showtime has made an offer for Stevenson-Fonfara that HBO can't or won't match, as is being reported, then they evidently do have the capital.

 

Yeah it's not so much about capital as much as HBO's not willing to pay extra for only the Fonfara fight and then to have Stevenson goto Showtime anyways.

 

There was talk that the Kovalev fight was a condition of HBO carrying the Fonfara bout in the first place. I suppose Haymon/Stevenson would demand that condition be waived or be compensated even more to not walk (though I'm not sure how that would work since HBO apparently has matching rights for this fight and possibly the next one). Rafael suggests that they could have locked him down for both this and Kovalev a while ago but got cheap at the last second.

 

I wonder how much Stevenson thinks he should be paid for fighting Kovalev?
Over/Under $9.5 million? I'm picking the over.

 

Any money that shitfilth earns should go immediately into a victims restitution fund for all the people's lives he ruined.

 

I haven't heard numbers and haven't seen them reported anywhere, but Steve Kim's been talking about this for a couple months. HBO has been pushing Stevenson to agree to the fall Kovalev fight before they commit to the Fonfara fight. I don't know what kind of numbers Dan is referring too as he hasn't stated them, so to say HBO got cheap who knows? There's market value to every fight, Stevenson may have been way unreasonable or not.
