First Ring isn't always lineal, and second it's vacant.
Kova is the #1, and pimp the #2, so they'd have to fight eachother for it. (or #1 and #3)

 

Beterbiev and Haymon Parters are about to steal every single belt without having to fight Ward or Kovalev.

 

Stevenson is the lineal champ @ 175 until he loses at the weight, moves up or retires...

The Ring belt has no bearing on who is or is not the lineal champion.

Well it could be #1 vs #4 according to The Ring's own skewed policies as well. Hell they put their belt on the line for Mayweather-Guerrero. Surely you don't think that fight should have created a lineage, right?

The TBRB rankings are the only ones trustworthy and also their champions are far more likely to conform to consensus lineal champions.

 

The idea of a lineal champion is a very uncertain practice.

 

The Ring is no different than any other sanctioning organization - ie not to be taken seriously...

 

The problem with lineage is when it becomes vacant. A boxer retires or moves division. Rarely will the world agree who was 2nd and 3rd. Hence it gets skewed.
