This fight is DEAD, GYM wanted Showtime to be included, wtf? Stevenson has no network affiliation, they completely made it up to have a valid excuse to duck this fight.
    Absolute joke.

    Showtime-HBO joint PPV? :rofl

HBO don't want work with showtime as mayweather vs pacquiao. HBO suck. HBO want PPV with no showtime .

It's well known that Super***** was offered 50/50 , in Montreal on HBO PPV

Since he is not, and has never been contractually bound to a network.. and HBO was the folks who built him anyhow, not taking the fight is nothing but a duck by Super*****.

Google translate of the article gives the strong impression that GYM was still insisting on SHO, and the only reason for them to do that for a PPV fight in this case is to not make the fight.

Why do they want SHO? It's not like Stevenson has any obligations to them? I mean I understand purse bid but this seems like a strange request.

Well that's just it, why would they insist on SHO for a PPV fight? It's not like the network ponies up for a license fee in that scenario, final payouts are tied to buys and minimum guarantees are based on some usually pretty accurate projections. That huge guarantee stuff is just for rare cases of people at Manny, Floyd or Canelo levels of popularity anyhow. Usually the network gives a projection and the promoters take a risk. For someone at the aforementioned level, sometimes the networks will extend extra bonuses or minimum incentives but that wouldn't be the case here.

So its not a case of bidding here between networks, as far as money goes its a case of buys which I don't think will really differ much between having Jones and Lampley vs Paulie and Bernstein.

Since HBO has paper on Kovalev.... the chances of them freeing him up to do a PPV fight on another network after being the ones to exclusively build him are... about 0%

On GYM side, even if it miffed SHO to see Stevenson go on HBO it's not like PBC doesn't have plenty of airtime booked.... and its not like Haymon hasn't shown a strong willingness to ignore SHO when it suits him. In the event Stevenson won, he could go on to do some pretty big numbers on CBS or Fox.

So, it pretty much only leaves one possible answer as far as I can tell. Stevenson, or his team, really just do not want the fight at all. I cant see any other reason for them to turn down a 50/50 PPV fight in their home town. If it were to fight in Russia or something I could understand, but ME offered Montreal.

Stevensons arena, Kovalevs network via PPV, 50/50 split. I really don't get why they wouldn't jump at it.

Its a way of avoiding the fight. There isn't enough demand and money to do a dual network thing. Kovalev can only fight on HBO he has a contract. Adonis can fight anywhere he wants. But Stevenson says either dual networks or no fight. Its pretty clear to see what is happening.

The thing is that I'm not even sure it's that big of a fight anymore, I mean I'm not sure about others but maybe 2-3 years ago I was really hyped for it but now.. It's kind of died down and I don't even care that much. This is one of those, if it happens that they let "marinate" for too long...

Boxing is really in a bad state when stuff like this is allowed to happen. Its disgusting how these fighters hide behind their managers.

It was clear when the fight was a go years ago and he jumped from HBO to showtime. Haymon king of no risk
