Steve Forbes Vs Andre Berto on HBO? It’s looking that way, folks…Well, no contracts have been signed as of yet, but it is in the works. In my eyes, Andre Berto is a very skilled work-in-progress who happens to have a belt. He knows and I know, as well as his promoters and handlers, that he has never faced a fighter like me. A slick, fast guy. I think Michel Trabant and David Estrada were the best guys he’s faced…Oh, also Cosme Rivera, who knocked him down. This is one of those fights that really excites me because it’s another chance to show WHAT I CAN DO, and I will be better than when I fought De La Hoya. I guarantee it!!!
And Berto will be up for the challenge.

Interesting. Forbes may have a future as boxing journalist or commentator.

The most recent episode (last week's) should be up sometime this weekend. The two before that...I don't know. :!: Technical difficulties, and they weren't all that great anyway, might just write 'em off.

I should have plenty to talk about on 7/31 :ibutt

    Already do, with Gamboa-Seeger, Williams-McDermott, and Lacy-Mendoza, and by then we'll have had Soto-Karass-Estrada, Flores-Diaz, Banal-Concepcion, Cotto-Margarito, and Joval-McGirt. :good

    From July 7th...

Back to my thoughts…I was thinking…What if we, as fighters, were independent? I’m in the process of promoting my own boxing show in October in Chicago. I may possibly be fighting on the show myself if my promoters don’t have something that I like by August first.
So in dealing with this, and all the other stuff in my career, I have a thought for you fellow boxers out there. You, as the boxer, have a right to choose your own path. Therefore you can go the direction you really want. Now you may have some stumbling blocks along the way…but hey, that’s life.
I must confess that going into the fight against De La Hoya, I felt I was in a bit of a freak show, and knowing that Oscar believed he was going to knock me out and all…also me being the smaller guy, and BLAH BLAH BLAH…and when the KO doesn’t happen (Yes, I have defensive skills!) I read how I didn’t take chances and I should have touched gloves with him more…BLAH BLAH BLAH…
You know what I wish? I wish every boxing writer or broadcaster was forced to train and spar for one full month before they were able to discuss boxing. That’s what I wish.
These comments, I might add, I read in The Ring Magazine.
Think about it. Isn’t The Ring De La Hoya’s publication magazine?
OK, so you wanna here my view of what happened? Check it…Oscar did want to fight someone to get ready for Mayweather. Yes, that’s true. But he also picked me because I embarrassed his prospects…First Demetrius Hopkins by whooping his ass on national TV, only to get ripped off by the judges…who were BEING PAID by the house promoter, who is??? Starts with O…S…C…you get my drift right? OK.
Then to have it all over the net that I got shafted versus D-Hop, and even stated in his own magazine, Ring, as one of the worst decisions…and then to go out there in my next fight and beat Francisco “Panchito” Bojado. Bojado, who was De La Hoya’s recycled kid phenom. If you don’t believe me, go and watch a copy of that fight and see how much praise Bojado got while I was beating him.
So now this brings me to the Golden Boy himself…he’s supposed to destroy me. I’m a blown-up, soft-punching, former lightweight belt-holder slicker who fought on a reality show. He’s a legend who has knocked out way bigger men than me.
Well…that didn’t happen. I was skilled enough not only to last the 12-round distance, but was able to bust up the Golden Boy, and not to mention while staying right in front of him the entire fight, trying my best TO WIN, as always.
Just imagine. What if I was a natural junior middleweight? Or even a welter? How would that have changed things?
Listen…they played it off like they knew I was gonna put up a good fight with him, and that he would work on his timing and things like that, and that was just what he needed…12 tough rounds.
But that’s not at all true.
They wanted a knockout and he gunned for one right from the opening bell. I just refused to be a victim. They may have wanted a tune-up, but believe me, Oscar knows…he got more than he thought he would get. That night, he got a lot more… from a fearless soft-punching natural lightweight.

    :ibutt

I spoke to Steve Forbes today and he's going to train with Floyd Mayweather Snr on Monday for the Berto fight and he said he hasn't heard the rumour about Hatton working with Floyd Snr!

That's what I thought, Steve Bunce(Boxing Journalist) said today that because Mayweather isn't allowed to come to the UK(Criminal record) he will work with Ricky when his camp go over to the states for a couple of weeks before the fight.

This kid's cool. I too hope he goes far in this sport even outside of the ring. Floyd Sr. should prepare Forbes well for this fight-about as well as anyone can. Damn Money, why couldn't you have been more like your daddy?
