Shane was very sharp and powerful at that weight. Stevie would hang until the very end. We will never know how good Shane would have been at 135 due to chasing Oscar/money.
I agree with this. I'm a HUGE Shane fan and applaud him for facing a bigger man and beating him but maybe he should've stayed at 135 and eventually move up to 140. His career is still great but I too am unsure what would happen if he stayed longer in 135 and especially what would happen if he moved up to 140 afterwards. Don't know if he would've been greater though.
Shane was a beast at 135. But he chased DLH and that huge payday. The worst thing about that is that he obviously cheated to jump two weight classes and fight an ATG. His legacy is tainted when he might've been one of the best lightweights to ever live. Classic example of failing to think long term.
Actually, I remember someone saying he could bench press 315 at 135 or 147. It was mentioned on HBO. I am not saying he was using back then, but **** that is a lot of weight. I am 200 pounds and can lift that for three. Again, I am not sure if they said that when he was at 135 or 147. If anyone is an avid weight lifter, then you can be amazed at this feet.
