Who would've won this battle of lightweights in the late 90's? And for that matter why didn't they fight back then?

Shane would have won, but not as easily as some people think. Stevie was a master boxer.

Mosley by Split decision.Johnston beat Mosley in the amateurs and would give Mosley hell but Mosley would win.

mosley IMO was a truely great lightweight

    johnston was a good lightweight.

great lightweight beats the good lightweight mosely wins.

try to get to see some of shane mosley fight in his lightweight career, he was a beast

No he wasnt better at 47:nono

SSM KO'd everyone he faced at 35. You can say what you will that perhaps he felt stronger, but Mosley's physical package at 35 got the best bang for the buck.

    Mosley was a killer LW:hat

Mosley's handspeed was fastest when he moved up to welterweight (against Rivera and Wise)

Mosley would be definitely too strong for Johnston. Shane was special as a LW. Late stoppage or UD for Shane.

he was faster and hit harder at 147 just look at his fights with Rivera,Wise,Taylor Diaz,Dlh thats when he looked unstoppable until he faced Forrest than he was never the same again.
