Steward and Bowe, instead of Lewis.

Offensively bowe was a more complete fighter than Lewis and Wlad but he was flawed himself and could have done with some tweaking himself.

Bowe really didn't use his height and reach as well as he could have. His jab was over rated he didn't use it enough and he didn't use it properly to control range it was more of an offensive weapon only for Bowe.

He lacked agility, guys that moved gave him problems, the fights against Hide, Golota and the 2nd fight against Holyfield prove this. He rarely had to cut off the ring as being the taller man his opponents always had to come to him, but when they didn't and moved he looked poor.

His defence was poor. A combination of not controlling range with his jab, not moving well and a tendency to stand and trade made him an easy target. That as much as his poor self discipline shortened his career. He took a huge amount of punishment during his career.

Yes Bowe offensively could do things that Lewis and Wlad simply could not but Bowe could only dream of being as agile as Wlad is now or have a jab like Lewis' that could shut Evander down like it did in their first fight.

 

No. In golota 1 he took a beating and underestimated golota. It was after golota 2 when he got the brain damage. He could not speak in the post fight interview. But man could he take a punch. That fight should have been stopped and it wasn't. Golota took it upon himself to stop it. In golota 1 bowe received sack damage, not brain damage.

 

Bowe couldn't even cut it for a drill sergeant. His mentality was not going to be accepted by Manny. He'd have been sent packing quick.

 

i agree, but futch was with bowe his whole career/beginning.

i think with bowe, he had to fight often and against better competition, even when young he sometimes under-performed against limited oposition, then we seen what he was capaple when he had a prime holyfield in front of him

 

Luckily for Bowe, actually Bowe was not so lucky.
Golota was a great fighter as well... provided he could keep his mind on the game.

 

No, Bowe never was anything.

He sucked against fighters his own size. His only claim to any sort of fame is one guy... little Evander.

Evander is the best ever CW and fighters of that size... which Tyson learned. But he is not a real HW and would not beat real HWs like for example a Tyson could because he did not have the style to do so.

Bowe.... is a nobody...

He is the Jeff Lacy of HW, but unlike Lacy he ran like the plague from good guys his size - so he was no exposed and some people to this day still hasn't figured it out.. just like 90% of boxing fans had no clue Lacy was a fake until he was exposed. LL he avoided like the plague.. and mediocre Golota gave Bowe a lesson..

I wouldn't call Golota mediocre, before injuries he had a terrific jab and was a good heavyweight, just a bit incosistent and tended to break under pressure.

But yea, Bowe is overrated.
Also Lewis already got him hard in the olympics.

Good fighter with great potential but he only proved his greatness once or twice against a much smaller guy.

Lewis on the other hand proved it for YEARS and he beat Holyfield fairly easily tbh.
