The more i think about it the more i think Cotto will not want Stewart or any other trainer in his camp after the fiasco with his uncle i think he is still hurt mentally over that incident.
He will most like carry on with Santiago and the rest of his people he seems to be close to in his camp and probably will be heading to Florida again.

I don't know if Steward can really improve Cotto in just a few months, but it's worth a try.

Steward picked Hatton over Pacquiao in a few interviews, I do recall. He seems to be in favor of the notion that Pacquiao really isn't equipped for all-out war with a high-end bigger opponent. He's lobbying for the Cotto job on one hand, but on the other he genuinely feels this way.

Also, Steward isn't a good match for Cotto.

Cotto doesn't like to be dictated to, and Steward doesn't know how to collabo with his fighters on equal terms, IMV.

hmm says. . . he has a good chance, but I guess he's saying that to land the position. I hope he becomes his trainer cause it will be a great matchup of trainers.... Even though styles won't mesh.. we will see.

They'll also probably get Max Kellerman to replace Steward on ringside............something I don't want...

Steward would **** Cotto up just like he did Hamed and Taylor. But I agree about the fight with Clottey, I was one of the more vocal posters about that fight being a mistake, and they should have not taken that fight. I was wrong, and Cotto showed alot of heart even thought I felt that Clottey edged him for the dec.

i think cotto would be better off with steward. i mean, the guy has basically trained himself for years now. it couldn't hurt to have a great trainer giving him some pointers. manny knows it would be a major change for miguel to take on so i think he would probably just go in there and try to improve on the things cotto already does well and voice his opinion on strategy and techniques to neutralize pac's advantages.

he's not gonna try to completely change cotto in just a few months. he's not an idiot, he's world class trainer. i think this could be the best thing to happen to miguel in a long time and imo, he should take the chance. this is the biggest fight of his career.

hmm says. . . well I guess the point to be noted is that we're assuming too much whether the two will be a good pair or not. We won't know until fight night if we're right or wrong but I say make it happen. Other than Steward, what other notable trainers can we name that are available atm.

What the hell is with fighters who did perfectly fine before the big fight decide to CHANGE their trainers before the fight then end up looking like ****. For once please just stick with what got you there!

Doubt it will make a difference, save for Steward informing Cotto to do something completely unnatural to him, or the whole relationship just breaking down entirely.

I mean Cotto is an experienced fighter now, he can make adjustments and is competent in most areas.

hmm says. . . indeed. He gets the job done after taking some punishment in areas that he lacks (ie opponents that were faster, etc). Whether it's attributed to his trainers or himself he has the capacity to adjust on his own.
