I am a huge fan of both fighters, but why is everyone assuming Cotto will steamroll Mayorga ala Trinidad or DLH??

Cotto's only fight at 154 was against a guy with what 8 KO's? That fight was a very smart one from a promotional standpoint, in the fact that it was a fight that Cotto almost couldnt lose. Foreman wasn't a big puncher and wasnt going to outbox Cotto, but he had a title belt, and that is all he brought to the table..

So basically Cotto is untested at the weight where he has a belt. He has not been the same since the Margo fight, he has chin issues, and is not a true 154 pound fighter IMO..That can spell trouble if, and thats a big if, Mayorga comes in in shape...

mayorga might be washed up and not the same fighter anymore, but I can't WAIT to see these press conferences because his trash talking has gotten better and better after each fight. His press conference for that MMA fight that got cancelled has got to be some of the best **** he's ever said.

They should just air the fight for free and PPV the pressers. Cotto is about the coolest head there is in boxing, I wonder is there any chance Mayorga gets to him with his bullsh*t.

Mayorga is entertaining, but he doesn't fight to win any more. This was posted on here once before, but it's worth repeating in the event any of you haven't seen it and plan on him taking a fight seriously:

    http://sportsbybrooks.com/wikileaks-ricardo-mayorga-****-trial-was-fixed-29332

In September 2004, boxer Ricardo Mayorga allegedly raped a young woman in a Managua hotel. Sensing an opportunity to blackmail Mayorga, Ortega and the FSLN agreed to protect the boxer in the courts if he would give the party a large portion of his international boxing winnings and “advertise” for Daniel in public.

Mayorga agreed, and an FSLN judge found him not guilty in December. Much of Mayorga’s winnings now reportedly go to Ortega, and when Mayorga fought in Chicago in August 2005, he dedicated the fight to Daniel, wore the FSLN colors, and flashed the number of the FSLN slot on the Nicaraguan electoral ballot (”casilla”) to the international media.

    10. (SBU) Sources: media accounts of Mayorga,s arrest, trial, his public “pro-Daniel” comments and his August 2005 fight, private testimony offered by lawyers involved in the case, testimony of the **** victim.

Honestly, I don't think too many people expect Mayorga to win, we're just enjoying the novelty of his over toughness, and I personally wanna see if he can get under, the normally calm, Cotto's skin.

I just realized, December's tko for Mayorga, was his first Tko win in almost 8 years.

  11. i hope mayorgas still got the life left in him to finish off the cotto show
