Duran is the no 1 lightweight of all time. He beat Ray Leonard, most people have him between 2-5 in all time welter weights. He also gave Hagler one of his toughest fights, most people have Hagler between 1-5 all time middle weights.

Could Pac beat one of the greatest Lightweights of all time (Duran, Armstrong, B. Leonard, Joe Gans, Ike Williams, Whitaker) then give one of the greatest welter weights all they could handle (Robinson, R. Leonard, Napoles, Armstrong, Hearns)?

Could Pac even beat any of the greatest feathers of all time (Pep, Sandy Sadler, Armstrong, Sal Sanchez) he couldn’t even clearly beat the best feather/ super feather he faced in Marquez and was bested by a past prime Morales in their first match. Do you think even the pre prime FW version of Duran would draw/ get a split with Marquez or lose to Morales?

Or put it this way, give Pac all of Durans opponents between 122 and 154 and how many defeats would he have? And how many defeats would Duran have if he had all of Pacs opponents between the same weight range?

Duran is by most people's estimation at least top 10 P4P, in most cases top 5. If you view Pac as greater, list your top 10.

exactly! how can you go up in wieght and not fight your opponent in full form of wieght in that weight class? now cotto lose wieght ect. and power= CATCH WEIGHT ADVANTAGE for pac. just like the upcoming fight with margorito, how are you fighting in 154lb but cant make it to 154 like margorito so you tell him to catch weight so now margorito is drianed to 151lb and pac is gaining 151lb just like cotto and de la hoya and others were drianed.

THIS THREAD PROVES NOTHING BUT CATCH WEIGHT ADVANTAGE TO PAC.

    2) Stupid comparison. For a start Wlad hasnt been a champ for as long as Ali, hasnt achieved impossible tasks as did Ali ie shocking the world with Liston, Foreman, epic fights with Frazier. And Wlad isnt even undisputed champ. Also even if Wlad was the best HW of his era, as the HW scene is down at the moment it doesnt mean as much.

In the case of Pac though, he has been top of his game in 2 weight divisions which happens to be the 2 toughest divisions of his era. FW & WW. Just like Ali or Duran, he has shocked the world on more than 1 occasion, his demolition job on MAB, the shock win against Oscar, his KO of Hatton and FOTY fights with JMM, Morales and Cotto.

Honestly, when you look at the guys on Pac's resume, MAB*2, Morales*2, JMM, Oscar(going up 3 weight classes in 1 year), Cotto, Hatton, Ledwaba & Sasakul, that is easily comparable to Duran's. Duran had SRL, Barkley, Moore, Cuevas, De Jesus. Its pretty damm close, outside of SRL, Morales, JMM, MAB and Oscar are all IMO better fighters than anyone Duran ever beat.

Hype is something you would attribute excitement for something new. Pac is not new. Hype could be used for Khan. Pac has been a champ for over a decade, that cannot possibly be called hype. Not just Pac, any fighter, this is like saying Hopkins resume is "hype". You can call it overrating but not hype. And for the record, if you read this thread I have already said I think Duran rates over Pac, just because of his single win over SRL, so if youre gonna use someone as example, atleast find the right one.

You make good points. But, "hype" is applicable here, because of the HYPE created by his most recent feats at WW and LWW. Had he not moved up and "shocked the world" with his more recent victories over ODLH through Clottey, these comparisons would, probably, not be made. Were they being made, when he was a SFW or even at LW? So, since by your definition, "Hype is something you would attribute excitement for something new", as I said, the term "hype" is more than applicable. People are clearly "excited" by what Pac is doing against these 'bigger' men, in the more recent (therefore fresher in everyone's mind) fights of his career. And yes...overrated applies as well. Don't get me wrong...I like him as a fighter. But, IMO, his resume does not indicate his superiority over Duran...YET. He's still fighting...so we shall see.

I read most of the thread, but, did not see your comments about how you rate Duran. So, I apologize if I have mistaken your stance, on this topic. I saw your comments in reference to mine, and I replied.

I refuse to agree with this.

The Duran who beat Leonard in their first fight was a monster. That was AFTER his lightweight run.

Who the **** cares what Manny thinks about fighters. He loves aggressive styles. In a room full of boxers and trainers, the last person I'd even talk to about boxing is a trainer.
