Steward also believes Mayweather is significantly better than Pacquiao. You know, he changes his opinion at least once a year
I think if Pacquiao fans were actually comfortable with how Pacquiao will be remembered after retirement, they wouldn't spend their entire lives trying to convince people on stuff like this. All Pek Pek does is try and dig up stuff like this. Completely ignoring the fact that there's just as many negative opinions on Pacquiao. Let's just start talking sense. Sugar Ray Leonard has wins over a peak Benitez, Duran, Hagler, Hearns, and has won world titles at 5 different weight divisions. He's beaten arguably the greatest lightweight and middleweight of all time. He won a world title at 147 and 175. Almost 30 pounds apart. And he rarely ever breaks any all time top 10. He's sometimes rarely even in the top 15. As for Duran, he went 72-1 in probably one of the toughest divisions in the history of boxing, then moved up 2 clear divisions and beat probably the 2nd greatest Welterweight in the history of boxing, at his best weight, at his peak. He then moved up another 2 weight divisions, at the age of 35, and probably gave the best middleweight of all time his toughest ever bout. Sorry to break this to you. Once the hype drops, Pacquiao won't be ranked even in the top 30. Neither will Mayweather. Pacquiao's best ever opponent wouldn't even make Durans top 5.
Are you serious? Did you just started following boxing? You know damn well that the ABC logic is false and only a boxing noob will resort to it.
In a book called "The 100 Greatest Boxers", Manny contributed a top 10. According to him, George Foreman is the 10th best fighter P4P of all time. I'm sure Manny Steward is good at a lot of things but ranking fighters doesn't appear to be one of them.
I tend to agree with your analysis but it does not change Steward's credibility in all things boxing. Yes that I would take his ranking with a bit a grain of salt. But that is far better than your typical ESB poster, where I would take a sack of salt. See ABC theory in this thread alone.
So Pacquiao has achieved more than Floyd, Duran and Leonard because of juice, is that what your saying? :good
Calm down....and read the ENTIRE paragraph. My point is Steward says a LOT of things. You cannot take one quote and run with that, as the TS has, and leave out all the others, because, they contradict your view. And as I said, Steward said Floyd beats Pac, in his view. So, he feels Floyd would be the superior fighter, H2H. Now, I threw in Duran just to make a point, that Pac is being overhyped, and that Steward is not too consistent with his praises. Floyd is not Leonard (or >) and Manny is not Duran (or >) ....period. This is not that era, nor is it greater. So, how can Manny really be greater than Duran? What's next, Wlad is greater than Ali? It's HYPE...that will endure until Manny has a close fight or is beaten. Why some of you are so willing to buy into it, is puzzling. Those fighters are proven, against the VERY BEST, in the HISTORY of the sport. Where will Diaz, Cotto, Hatton, CLOTTEY, MARGARITO be on the list of ATGs? Even ODLH will be nowhere near Duran's status. So....again...how is Manny > Duran? What win(s) has put him there? Manny NEVER beats Leonard in a H2H matchup. In fact, Roach, with his cherrypicking ass, would not let Manny in the ring with Duran OR Leonard.
