Hype job? Cotto? The guy with that staggeringly impressive resume? The boxer who never ducked anyone, who fought his heart out in quality matches while other stars fought easy fights?

My only theory is that the only Cotto fight you have seen is the one against Pacquiao...

Allow me to welcome you to the exciting world of boxing. I encourage you to watch as many matches as you can; eventually you will start to understand the sport a little better. Until then it is advisable that you keep your posting to a minimum as you clearly have very little of value to add to any conversation on this forum.

Anything can happen. Cotto is not very good when he is light, Ricardo Torres almost knocked him out. He should never have fought Pacman at a catchweight. I think he needs to just get on with his career, and if the fight arises, go for it. He needs to get his cofidence up, though.

    from steward and cotto himself:

"When trainer Emanuel Steward sat down with Miguel Cotto
    This content is protected
to discuss last November's TKO loss to Manny Pacquiao, the Puerto Rican star told him there were no issues related to weight or being drained from making weight. Pacquiao and Cotto fought at a catch-weight of 145-pounds, and there were some experts who felt the extra two pounds were a factor in the fight...According to Cotto, there was one big hurdle that he couldn't solve in the fight-Pac-man speed. He told Steward that he couldn't deal with the filipino fast hands
    ."

stop making excuses for cotto who as a warrior never used the catch-weight as an excuse for his loss.

    :deal

it's not about being drained, it's about focusing on that last pound instead of focusing on the fight itself....although, having a nobody trainer wasn't much help

I think Cotto is pretty quick himself, thought he showed that against Mosley, problem i see for him in the Pacquaio fight is, when he fought Pacquaio he was putting too much weight on the lead foot, essentially leaning into the power hand of Pacquaio, not its like i always say, Pac does not finish on the target, he punches threw it, now that is doubly worse when your leaning into his power hand, plus, even when he does not land he can still move around Cotto and set of up other attacks because Cotto is rooted to the floor being that he fight very flat footed at times.

Cotto needs to stop fighting flat footed too much of the time, make sure he does more of what he did against Foreman, which is keep his weight in the middle, stick to the game plan, and he could do okay next time, although Cotto has never had great stamina so you never know.

Thing is, Cotto could do in spells what he did to Foreman, which is dominate centre ring, double the jab and catch him whilst he is moving laterally, Pacquiao has no glove defense.

cottos team say there were no problems what so ever with losing anyweight, they made 145 as comfortably as possible.

the problem was (IMO) the **** sparring partners

while pac was sparring up and coming stars such as omar henry, cotto was having comfortable sparring sessions with a 38 year old no named bum called fred tukes and another journeyman with a losing record (cant remember his name)

and those 2 were the only sparring partners he had while pac had 5 or 6 stars switching over every few rounds.

no it wasn't el gato, they threw gato out because he was clowning too much, it was another bum.

hell gato is a better fighter than those 2 bums.

The problem is Cotto isnt a slow fighter
but Pac is a Super fast fighter in both hands and feet. Steward wont be good for anything. Pac will still counter at all kinds of weird angles and catch Cotto like before. How many people since RJJ floor people with their feet off the ground?

Doesnt matter as Pac CAN NOT MAKE 150 plus pounds.
    The Clottey fight showed that.

whats staggeringly impressive about cotto is that his fight against Yuri was the FIRST title he has ever taken by beating the champion

    What a greedy *******.

I bet when Pacquiao runs him over again: "The fight went just like I expected."

the problem was not only Pac's speed. Pac is too complete a fighter for Cotto.
