He is officially done. If he can't beat an average over weight cruiser, then he is finished. A few years ago this would have been an easy fight for Chris. Good bye and Good Luck, Rapid Fire. :good :happy :happy :happy
You're being too hard on Povtkin after only 14 pro fights but I agree, Byrd is finished but what a great career he had.
I don't think I am. This kid couldn't have beat a fourth of the people that Chris did. Not even in the same league.
The time for that fight is long since passed. I want to see this fight about as much as I want to see Holmes vs Formen.
Toney Byrd would be a great fight. I'd love to see this ................two very similar fighters.........
What he should do is get down to 200 lbs and try to win a cruiserweight title. Who is the WBA cruiser champ? 42 year old Virgil Hill? Byrd would knock him out.
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl LMAO at this thread for speaking as if Byrd was some kind of great fighter in the past that Povtkin could'nt touch. Lets be realistic here, Byrd was a good fighter, and maybe even a better than good fighter in his pre-Ibeabuchi days, but he was never great...... When Byrd beat a deteriorated Holyfield, imo he was given gift decisions in every single defense of this title, up ti'll finally Wlad Klitshko put him and us out of the misery of Byrd having the title of Heavyweight Champion of the World. At his best, I'd say Byrd was better than good but far from great. Please spare us from having to read this thread with comments as if Byrd was a former great!
BYRD was an overachiever, blown up super middle weight and ducked no one...fought TUA, Wlad(2X), IKE, man he ducked no one and he gave it his all...time's up for him though....GREAT CAREER!
Maybe a nice career. He made a nice living fighting at Heavyweight over the last several years, but I guess great is a phrase that is used to loosely nowdays!:think
