And yet 99.9% of those "real heavyweights" wouldn't have the balls to take on Byrd in their 14th professional fight. This is such a rarity at heavyweight. If Povetkin has the ability to take on tough competition so early in his career, can you imagine what he can do 10 fights down the line? I don't understand how people can shun such a talented and courages boxer.

Povetkin is an excellent/promising heavyweight not some average overweight cruiserweight

Byrd would beat Toney now because unlike Toney, he still has some movement. If he used his jab, created angles, and moved, he would win by UD.

If I have any V Cash left after the Calzaghe fight. I will bet it all on Povetkin getting KOed in his next fight.

I'll never forget that HILLARIOUS night with Byrd's turbo-**** wife screaming at him throughout the whole fight with Wvlad. Between rounds she'd have all this brilliant advice, shouting over the trainer at him: "Chris! You're not doing THIS, you need to do THAT!" Totally failing to realize that her husband's opponent was a real man who had him out classed and who didn't even need Jesus in the ring with him to beat the hell out of a slapping, paper-champ, bum like Byrd. Did Byrd even land a punch up until the time he was ***** slapped to the canvas? And boy were he and 'ol Jesus DONE when Wvlad lowered the hammer on that ass!

We'll see how he does, but those next 10 fights could generate "L's" depending on the opposition.

I wonder what he's going to tell himself to regroup and get the drive and motivation to get back in there, after this loss to someone with only 14 fights, and so close on the tail end of the Wlad loss.........

It'll be hard for Byrd to push on, now, but I bet he will.......

:nono Chris Byrd is a slapper. He hardly puts anything behind his punches.
What had made him competitive against alot of the Heavyweights he faced was his quickness and elusivelness......but more so his elusiveness.

Byrds elusiveness has been diminishing now for a long time, and its gotten worse by the fight.

I dont see where dropping down to cruiserweight for a fighter of Byrds style is going to help......if anything, the fighters at cruiserweight are going to be faster and quicker, and Byrd is going to be much easier for these cruiserweights to hit.

Bryd should call it a day.

He had a great career and made some good money.

You said it....Wrecked physically and is'nt young anymore....what makes you think he'd fair better against faster, quicker fighters.

Povetkin is'nt much bigger than Byrd, and we saw the results.

.....and he's nowhere as mobile as he used to be, in fact he's getting worse every time out!

Yep. Byrd handled the monster Ibeabuchi very well, except when he was caught by that huge left hook that turned everything around.

But what can you expect? Byrd has been in top contention for a while now. I am not surprised that he is well past his best. A rpime Burd would have handled Povetkin easily.
