look this what this sport is all about money, because when you are at the point of Joe's career these ABC boys don't give you the money, it is the TV companies and big crowds to watch the fight that pay the bills.

    TCW is correct.

to put it in money context.

peter manfredo nearly earned as much for fighting calzaghe as berrio v steiglitz got combined in there purse bids fight for the ibf title.

and calzaghe earned way way way more than he would have done than if a purse bid situation would have gone out between warren and sauerland or kohl.

That still doesn't explain why Calzaghe should still be considered the IBF champion when he choose money over defending the title against the undefeated mandatory challenger.

Would you still consider Taylor the WBC Champion if he decided to fight Mora instead of Pavlik and was stripped by the WBC?

    I wouldn't.

i dont consider calzaghe as an IBF champ.

    bute is the legit champ.

    it was simple economics.

calzaghe got paid way more for a fight v manfredo than he would have v steiglitz and the manfredo purse and most of calzaghe`s purse were covered by hbo so warren was in a win win, as opposed to steiglitz fight.

simple economics dictated which fight took place.

Sure, although the primary reason Joe wanted Manfredo was exposure in America. He could have made as much money fighting Carl Froch, for example. Who knows, without the Manfredo fight, maybe he wouldn't be fighting Hopkins now...

Well I doubt Bika will take a fight with Stiegliz ... he has two better options lined up. Either a rematch with Codrington - which will pay very well because both boxers are Contender-known in the US and their last fight was Gatti-Ward material. His second option is Mundine down under - also a fight that will pay very well.

And IBF-eliminator has little to no prospects for Bika - is't a fight that is going to hard to win and the titleshot he could earn will lead him no-where - he had his shot at Bute and it was clear that he wouldn't stand a chance in a rematch anyway. He is much better of both finasionally and in regard to winning chances with the first two options.

So next on IBF's list: Pascal (fighting Miranda), Lacy (proberbly not ready - not according to himself), Miranda (fighting Pascal) -> Sanavia (lined up for a rematch with Häussler), Allan Green, Häussler (rematch with Sanavia)

So Allan Green might be a good bid...

Kessler is not rated atm - but I'm guessing he will be when they update the list - proberbly high enough for the other spot versus Stieglitz...

The Manfredo fight did nothing for Calzaghe in the US - nothing. Calzaghe is fighting Hopkins because he beat Kessler is now undesputed SMW champion. Well and then the 10 years reign, the Lacy-fight also had something to do with it ;)

its been a myth that calzaghe has had no usa exposure.

as far back as 8 years ago calzaghe was fighting on usa tv.
it tends to be young americans who bring up calzaghe unknown etc etc.

hbo simply refused to air a calzaghe v steiglitz fight , so calzaghe took there money and fought manfredo.

which for him was a very good payday.

and with the hopkins fight it is a 2 way street.

calzaghe got a lot more for fighting kessler than hopkins got for fighting winky wright .

Yes, he does! If he is good enough and keeps winning, why not?

If mouthdine had the guts he would fight Bika, and I think it would be a good one.

I would rather he fought Kessler as his mandatory late this year than Stieglitz and then another Joppy in Spring '09. Might not be what Bute wanted, but it's what this Bute fan would rather happened.
