They show the replays on showtime. Of course Floyd fighting on Showtime is part of the reason its boxing viewership is up. I'm not even a fan but what you're saying is simply not true.

Of course I understand a budget, I'm an adult, I have responsibilities. My question is, do YOU know their budget? What their projections were? If not, you can't call it a flop. Don't take me for an idiot.

Technically, Haymon and Mayweather brought the SHO offer back to HBO and they declined to match.

Same way HBO had the option to buy Stevenson's Fight with Fonfara at $2 million plus w/o guarantee of Kovalev.

Sometimes you just can't spend indiscriminately. Just ask the New York Yankees.

Mayweather...is the highest paid athlete! Showtime has done over 4 million PPV buys for his fights and boxing intrest went up 70%. Everybody associated with this won.

    You are clueless.

Of course it's not a farce for Floyd, he has a guaranteed purse.

    It's a farce for Showtime.

Aside from Tyson, I don't think there was a fighter in the PPV era that was so popular that he could do a million buys regardless of the opponent. Not Oscar (Javier Castillejo, anyone?), not Felix, not Floyd, not Manny. The opponent has to be seen as at least some sort of threat to sell.

There's a reason Oscar and HBO chose not to make the Forbes fight a PPV event - nobody would buy it.

I suspect Floyd and Showtime are starting to come to that realization as well. Problem is, I don't think there are many guaranteed 1m buy fights available for Floyd. There are a lot of strong fighters at 140-147, but aside from Manny, most of them are still on the way up and haven't reached their marketing peak yet. There's nothing at 154 except Lara, and if Canelo wins, even Lara will be out of the picture. And I don't know that Lara will generate 1m buys anyway.

Floyd's only real 1m buy options are Manny, GGG, and the Cotto-Martinez winner, and I don't see any of those fights happening. In other words, Showtime were a bit foolish to sign Floyd to so many fights if they were expecting a string of record-breaking hits.
