As much as i'm disappointed that vitor lost this fight, i am impress with silva. If gsp-silva fight this year, gsp is going to sleep guaransheed.
I think it was said perfectly above. The focus should be off GSP / Silva and aimed towards Jon Jones right now. He is the man in the sport right now. The fight to be made after Jones destroys shogun is Jones/Silva.
Anderson would counter the **** out of GSP if he fought him like he fought kosheck. GSP has a very good chance of grinding out a UD if he takes the Sonnen route, though.
Apparently Silva is one of Jones's "idols" in MMA so i don't see that fight happening to be honest!!.. And from a selfish point of view with them being two of my favorite fighters it would be hard to watch!! .
I don't mind that you think GSP would get destroyed, but get your facts straight. *1- GSP vs penn 1 was a stand up battle and a very close fight. GSP vs Penn 2 was a complete domination of GSP on the ground and standing, so there was absolutely no lay and pray. *2- When did GSP fight Torres? was he a bantamweight at some point? *3- GSP had absolutely no trouble keeping Hardy down, say what you want about the fight but that wasn't the problem at all in this one, Hardy was on his ass for 24,5 minutes. (never said it was an exciting fight)
I like GSP, I like Silva, but if you think GSP would be able to beat Silva by just using the jab like he did to Koscheck, you're in dreamland. Silva's head movement is excellent, he is tall and rangy, and is a vicious striker himself. I think you need to take the maple-leaf tinted spectacles off monsieur.
you're right GSP would have to be really creative to find a way to win. By the way it says that Mac is from ontario, so he's not a french canadian.

Anyway, I believe it is possible GSP could beat Silva, GSP is a very special fighter and is only going to get better if he continues doing his boxing training with a genius like Freddie Roach. But outjabbing him like he did Koscheck is not the way to do it. Outwrestling him (utilizing his vastly superior sub defence to that of Sonnen) is probably the best path to tread.
In the second Penn fight George layed on him as if he was married to the man!! , and thats what i was talking about, And my mistake saying Torres, i meant Tiago Alves!!, and you may think Goerge had "no trouble keeping Hardy down" but the simple fact is both Hardy and Alves got up a number of times and George couldn't keep Koscheck down either!! :yep .
no, you're still wrong. Google has all the fights, you should rewatch them. Penn/GSP 2 started off the clinch for a round, 2nd round with serious GnP, third and fourth were a mix of stand up and GnP. Lay and Pray = similar to a ground and pound style, but instead of striking on the floor the fighter utilizes position and smothering techniques to ride out a decision. As for Hardy, Alves and Koscheck, there's no one else that would be able to wrestle them like GSP did. Hardy fight was boring due to that, as soon as he got up he was easily taken down again, Alves was outstruck and taken down at will and Kos on paper is supposed to be a better wrestler than GSP. Anyways, the only part I agree with you is that Silva would probably be the one winning that fight. GSP isn't an idiot though he would never take the fight if he didn't feel he had a clear chance of winning. IMO Silva is actually the scariest most unpredictable fighter in the UFC. So yea, GSP would have his hands full.
Silva has athletic capabilities most fighters could only dream of. But GSP is the smarter fighter. I hope it happens, but i hope GSP fits well into the division.
Maybe GSP could take a tune-up there around the same time as Anderson fights Okami, if indeed Dana wants Silva-Okami to be on the Brazil show. GSP vs a Dan Miller or CB Dollaway or Alan Belcher could be fun.
GSP is P4P #1 imo. Nice performance (even if the kick was fluky) by Anderson last night but he looked terrible in 2010 and he is there for the taking.
Even though he would probably like to avenge that loss, just like Jones-Hamil it will probably never happen. Okami can't seem to string together victories for a title shot. What is laughable is that Sonnen is now being floated as an opponent. Sonnen needs to prove that it wasn't just the roids that carried him in that fight. Also, he might need to be fighting off Bubba if he gets jacked up during his sentencing hearing. What I do want to see, for Silva's next 3 fights(assuming he wins all 3). 1. Silva-GSP 2. Silva-Jones/Rua winner 3. Silva-GSP II or Okami
