Yes Ive read about that place. Lots of great stories about Stillman`s gym. Allegedly Lou Stillman was a mean SOB. He had alot of boxers scared of him.
I spent most of my youth weekly at Stillman's gym and I can still "see" Lou Stillman barking at everybody perched on a high stool chair, running a tight ship...He announced the fighters entering the 2 rings sparring with each other...He ran his gym like he was running a prison and he was the warden...I loved it....

F , I am sure that John Garfield and I were at Stillman's gym often at the same times, but never spoke to each other...Like passing ships in the night...
